just curious how people remember what happened the week before, I personally write about each anime but I get the feeling pausing half way through to make sure I get everything is making me enjoy them less than when I would just watch them and remember what I could from the week before and I'm curious to know what other people do.

I just wait until the whole season is out to watch, unless its something that I don't really have to remember.

If it has been just a week since I watched the last episode I will remember everything. If it has been a few weeks I'll remember everything as soon as something even remotely related to it happens. If it's been about a month or more I'll (sometimes) need to remind myself of what was happening.

I don't think I've run into a situation where I was forgetting things week to week that compromised my ability to follow a show. I just have an amalgam of "stuff that's already happened" for each series wadded up in a ball somewhere in my brain; I can rarely tell you what happened in which episode, but I remember the gist of the story well enough to follow it.

I tried taking episodic notes for awhile and found it really arduous; I'm not cut out to be an anime blogger.

That's when recaps come into play.

i pretty much remember everything in anime, even if i've let the episodes build up for a while before catching up.

manga, however, is a different story.

Since the last scene from the last episode is usually the first scene of the current episode, I remember what's going on as soon as I see it. It's usually not a problem if I've been watching consistently. But if I leave something alone for a couple of months, I don't go back and rewatch episodes, I just remember what I can.

If there is an overarching story in the show, then I'll remember what happened within the first few seconds, but the small recaps in the first minute can help sometimes. For more episodic series like Mushi-shi, I will most likely forget.

I can remember everything. hell, I still remember everything from anime I watched 2+ years ago. I didn't think it was such a huge issue for some people to remember anime week by week.

Normally, I just try and remember what I can. If there was something awesome that happened last week, then I'd remember that for sure. Otherwise, cringe-worthy, time wasting episodes are something I wouldn't remember. Of course, the comments above are right. Recaps are a good thing.

I don't remember everything since I don't have photographic memory. But I don't need 5 minute recaps either, lol.

I'm not a seasonal watcher so I just sit down and watch every episode in a season in a day or two.
There's hardly no remembering involved in what I do.

If I really cant remember anything, I'll watch the first few minutes of the new one to see if it jogs my memory, & that usually works. But I'd have to be desperately confused or rapidly developing Alzheimers to be forced to rewatch the last ep!
