I want all of you to think, nay, to dream of a world where we carry our own utensils with us. A world where restaurants and cafes need not waste money on disposable plastic utensils, or on cleaning supplies to wash dirty, used, ragged spoons, forks and knifes. A world where men and women need not fear using a unwashed fork, an unwashed spoon, as if they should be happy to have someones sloppy seconds! Where everybody is free to carry their own eating utensils, free from the judgment of society!

No longer dream, my brothers and sisters. Let us instead act. Let us usher forth a new era where all of humankind carries their own eating utensils when they go forth into society to eat!

Utensils? Multiple? I think not. There is only one utensil a person needs.

Behold, the collapsible SporKnife! http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/1655/?srp=5

Bask in it's glory, ye mortal users of traditional utensils, for ye are not worthy.

I carry my own set of chop sticks around sometimes. But not to any finger-food joints, because I will most likely order any type of burger or sandwich there.

What about plates? Cups? Serviettes?

All these slippery slopes

I was once given a set of chopsticks with their own little case, and my life has been forever changed.

I rather not, just because their is a good chance people will forget them and then they won't have any, or the silver ware would get dirty, and it would just be another thing to have to carry around.

The problem becomes apparent soon after you set out on your journey. Case one, you drop it on the floor. Case 2, you already used it, there is no close water source nearby to wash it properly. Case three, your only utensil is stolen. Case four, you use your utensil to escape, it breaks in the process, now how are you going to eat, smart guy?!?

Case 1: Wipe on pants
Case 2: Clean as well as possible with tongue, wipe on pants
Case 3: Beat thief to death, take back utensil
Case 4: Save the Sporknife end and continue using until purchasing a replacement

And if this somehow fails, fingers!

I considered this, but is that any way to eat spaghetti?

Edit: the floor is quite unsanitary because of the cows.
