Mine is Zandona. I've never met anyone with the same last name as me in person, but there are a few Zandonas on Facebook, mostly in Italy. It has always been sort of a strange last name for me because i have virtually no Italian decent. When people ask me about it I really have no comment on its origins. Never the less, I still like it because of its uniqueness in the US where i live. The only time it gets annoying is when people perceive the 'z' as an 's' at the beginning of the name.

Bennett. It betrays the French-Canadian on my paternal grandmother's side. It's not pronounced in the French way. Must have happened when my paternal grandmother's side gained American citizenship. No, I don't like it, because of family drama, and the name is pretty boring.

Living in Australia, people often mispronounce my last name because it's European. For that matter, a lot of people even struggle with my first name. Don't even get me started on them trying to pronounce my parent's names either.

My last name is Wilson and my old drama teacher liked to make jokes out of peoples names when she did the rollcall. When she get up to me she would always shout-

It took a while to catch on that she was referring to Wilson the volleyball from the movie Castaway.

The first syllable of my last name is pronounced butch, so I use that as a nickname to get people to say it right before they interpret how the jumble is supposed to sound. Ellis Island translators of the 1930's weren't that accurate in changing a name to English.

Maestas and nothing wrong with it.. I'm thankful my stepfather had never legally adopted me as a child, then my last name would have been Szostkowski...

My last name is Lara. It's okay, not like my first name which has been a pain in the ass since elementary school and always having to tell my teachers how to pronounce it since they will get it wrong the first time.
