At the very least, he's Kamito, who is a huge step up from Ichika.

I actually like Ichika. His obliviousness doesn't bother me to tell you the truth. I think it may be because if you take away the harem aspect to Infinite Stratos it becomes a shonen, and he becomes a shonen protagonist. He tries hard to get stronger, helps everyone out, he isn't really cynical like half harem leads are, nor is he a preacher of utmost morality like the other half are. Furthermore he isn't OP. Aside from being able to use a mech, he is a pretty normal guy.

In my opinion Infinite Stratos has a really strong cast of characters, for the most part they don't overdo any cliches. The girls even have friendships among themselves. The only problem is that IS doesn't bother to have a plot in favor of harem romcom moments. If it actually had a plot, I could see it becoming really good as far as sci-fi fantasy mech shows go. It is one of my favorite harems despite that though. All the girls are so charming and the main character is really easy to self-insert into.

As far as this show goes though. I am interested in its plot, but so far the girls have yet to charm me.

I completey agree with you xxJing. remove the harem aspect in the show (mentally) and it is pretty decent to watch, and Ichika is a pretty good main character. His obliviousness kinda ticks me off though, because the signs he gets are pretty easy to recognize for anyone with some common sense. On another note, I think this show, ( after watching 2 episodes) will be kind of similar to IS with the harem aspect, but so far they have done well on trying to build some backstory and make a unique, original story. The whole cliffhanger and flashback side of the backstory made an interesting plot, with them saying "he's the best Fafnir in NIFL", leaving the viewers with a huge cliffhanger about his and the others' pasts. I just hope they don't just discard the backstory or make it drag on forever. An episode or two with major pieces of the backstory, but still have the present story progress would be really nice.

One final note; Is there a reason episode 3 is not up yet? I've tried looking around for any information about it, but have not uncovered anything.

First of all about IS, I will say that the first season is pretty solid and has a decent story going for it. That's pretty good stuff there. But the second season, the biggest problem is that it introduces something to the story, and never bothers to elaborate or find a suitable stopping point. The way the story is executed is an absolute joke with the biggest gripe being that it spends too much time with dumb fanservice and stuff that doesn't really advance the plot. The only thing that made the second season watchable is the introduction of a new character who I think is the best girl of them all.

Anyway, as for episode 3, it airs every Saturday at 11pm Eastern, and last week the video appeared at that moment without a countdown timer. So that figures to be the norm for the time being.

I completely agree with you about season 2. I was kinda referring to just season one, sorry I didn't elaborate on that. The second season was very poorly done for the story and was really only fanservice. The introduction of the new character was cool and all, but the story really abandoned a plot. I wish they did it better, but it's over now so all we can do is look back on the mistakes.

Thanks for the information about the timer not appearing, I had been watching it Sunday mornings, so I never noticed it not having a timer. But yeah, I think this show is pretty cool so far, and the animation is definitely well done, though the weird dimming effects from the first episode were not something I've seen before. I thought my computer was dying . I'm assuming that they are on purpose, and have an explanation behind them. I hope this show doesn't lose to the fanservice world like IS did though. One final note, I feel like this show is similar to Freezing, because of the whole, gaining powers from a super-being and then combatting them with the same powers, and the aspect of the Dragons and the Nova being drawn to that power. That's just my observation though.

Ep 3

I'm ok with the whole trading power for something personal. Makes it so even if you're OP, you do lose something of value each time you use it.

This is a better series than I thought. The main character is pretty likable, and the writing is smarter than I'd expect. There's some signs of cost-cutting in the dragons and in the fact that they didn't show a lot of the first battle, but I'm hooked.

This show is ghetto.

First time I ever called an anime ghetto.

Seriously though, it's ghetto.

Episode 4

Tear is quite a handful there declaring Yuu to be his wife just like that, all while embracing her dragon self. That was just too much to handle, but still her energy is something not to be messed with. It looks like there's something unusual about her seeing that her imaginary weapon seems to be something out of the ordinary. Anyway, that was just dumb.

Ep 4

You know what? I'm actually beginning to really like this show now. At first I was like meh, but then the harem just pulled me back in.

Iris stays losing lol I have nothing against her, it's just funny when the show just uses one of the harem members as a punchline for jokes

Yuri principal and Tear are pretty good additions to the cast.
