in a nutshell...pretty much asking for some help in brainstorming a job/career

first of all let me just proclaim NEETLYFE! (a spinoff off of thuglife, popularized by good ol Tupac Shakur)

but as one grows older neetlyfe certainly doesn't seem like a logical choice, I've been in college for almost a decade, jumping from major to major with no real idea of what type of career or high paying job I would want to end up with.

the criminal record is pretty bad (these things happen from time to time) but for the most part, cowboy life is just about over and yeah...I really need to start making some serious money

grades are alright, but things such as jail and certain responsibilities have definitely made grades in the past year pretty horrid

so the question is as follows... what kind of jobs would sound good for anime peoples like us?

of course one of the obvious answers would be to start one's own manga or anime, but that takes a lot of cash and time at the moment so it doesn't seem too plausible (in the current situation)

so basically I'm asking for some help brainstorming ideas and whatnot for entry level jobs within the U.S.

also another route would be to figure out some sort of work at home job which would be nice, but I do know the job markets are plagued with such things as Ponzi Scams and Pyramid Scarms, which I am seriously not down for. But yes, work at home type of jobs are very intriguing and would also be cool so I could balance out my family life as well as work life.

Also it would be cool if this thread would also help others people that are in the same of situation as I am in

Also I have background college education these subjects:
Business and Management/Marketing
Medical (background classes having to do with becoming an X-Ray Technician )
Psychology
History
Computer Sciences
Microsoft Office
Theatre Arts

maybe us neets could come together and form some sort of business? I think that would be cool

You should just get into upper management. You can make six figures easy, delegate all your responsibilities, and "work remotely" 3 days a week. Criminal history is almost a prerequisite for taking so much salary for so little value added.

Try animator or game designer. Take some art courses if you need to.

I get paid decently to watch anime, play scrabble, catch up on cable TV and at worst actually do some menial work.

work remotely? any suggestions on what type of field would be plausible for people like us?

pc game design is one of the ideas that me and my cousin are working on but yeah I have no coding experience, I'm mainly in the idea department (good life experiences that could provide comedy and perspective on certain subjects...history and bad decisions that effect the whole world are what I kind of want to focus on)

animator....anybody know how long schooling would take to do that type of work? (money is also an issue)

and damn get paid decently to watch anime, play scrabble and watch tv sounds pretty amazing LOL

thanks for the suggestions so far guys!

actually not so much with the menial work (had to peep google (damnn) )...it seems like that's the only type of jobs that are available to me due to the criminal record

(could also sue them later-on) but that's time consuming and lawyer fees are crazy especially if you don't end up winning lol (took criminal law class but didn't make it all the way through though)

also anybody know any good mmos that one can gain some good capital or at least consistent capital? (i know itll take time but sometimes plausible especially with long wait times and i also enjoy meeting and getting to know people from other countries (but then again the internet personality is very different from real personality at times lol)

i feel it...delivering pizzas and making pizza really sucked for the month that i did it (corrupt boss) but theater management was pretty cool especially since it was in a small city where people understood the problems of tiny businesses just struggling to make it

maybe try working at a hotel? i could imagine the complaints would suck but perhaps it wouldn't be too stressful

Go into advertising? This might work with the college subjects you have done?

the funny (and sad) thing is that i have to raise my GPA a little (not dropping classes while i was in jail/involuntary incarceration) brought my GPA down a whole lot...i need to raise it probably by .03 and i get 3 AAs or something (i believe history, psychology, liberal studies, and a certificate or something that will be able to move me to the next step in becoming an xray technician...but i wouldn't put any confidence in it because i would basically transfer with some Ds and im pretty sure anyone with Ds wouldn't be able to succeed or even get their foot in the door in anything medical)

marking is a cool route seeing that a lot of things have to do with marketing but that's also a down point in my opinion...i wouldn't know where to begin to be honest

i was thinking in my spare time maybe make a comedic youtube series or even a manga about the struggles of a criminal that's trying to get his life straight lol (technically this isn't funny lol)

or maybe a group that tackles social issues

To answer your question, castro510, I'd need to know a few things.

First: Do you have a completed college degree? If so, what is it in? If not, what is the degree your closest in getting?

Second: Do you mind working with your hands as a skilled laborer? Not all jobs require a college degree and some require a trade school program and, frankly, can pay well in the end. There are programs for skilled laborers and people like Mike Rowe have a lot of great resources for job placement (Example: http://www.mikeroweworks.com/tool-shed/)

Third: What can you do on your own? Do you have the skill set to start your own business? Is there something you are both passionate about and have a set of skills to do?

Fourth: Have you thought about seeking out organizations which specifically help people who have come out of jail like yourself? Here's a website with some materials which may help: http://exoffenders.net/employment-jobs-for-felons/#axzz35jnXO9vy

Getting those last few points might be something you want to consider. While you may have a D's, a degree is a degree and if you are that close I would just say fuck it about transferring and go ahead and knock out the requirements to get those. Your resume doesn't necessarily need to include your grades, but going from a diploma to three degrees, will instantly increase your viability as an employee. Even if you struggled in school you shouldn't beat yourself up about test scores. The only other test you would have to take, like for example you mentioned med school, would be test for entrance to graduate school. Based on what you are saying that might not be something you would immediately explore. So I would finish the little bit you have left and then you can take two options, you can try and find a stable job and pursue these ideas in your spare time. This way you have a little bit of a guarantee. Otherwise you can try and find a job involving what you love. This way might not be as stable but the rewards are obvious. While most of the ideas I've seen aren't bad, I just wouldn't bet your security on them. Unfortunately if you were gonna find a stable job in a field like this it most likely would have come to you by now. That being said I still think you should pour energy into creating a create product and if you do find yourself more successful than you thought that's when you can branch out there. Just my two cents, take what you have worked for now, and in a secure way start building towards your passions.

But not to preach lol, as far as some ideas go you might consider: artist, script writer, animation, maybe find a local vendor and work in their shop, professional cos-player, work hard maybe you can work for the Crunchyroll staff or something like that, there's professional reviewing, go into printing (like making posters), starting your own hobby shop, voice acting, even being an assistant at a studio, if you were willing to go to Japan there are probably even more options.
