A better way to stream Funimation on your TV.

I tried the Funimation Roku app. It sucks. Apple TV doesn't have a native Funimation app yet (still), but it does have that nifty mirroring function if you have an iPad or iPhone. Just mirror Funimations website and watch the video in fullscreen mode. The picture quality is surprisingly good and you can make a queue of sorts if you bookmark individual shows.

Sorry if this is really old news, but I'm just now exploring all the mirroring possibilities and this one was pretty cool I thought.

I think the Funi Roku app is fine, but I do have an AppleTV, and have used the AirPlay feature a couple of times with iPad apps, so I might try this out anyway.

One thing I have run into though is that the iPad goes to sleep, and you have to touch it every few minutes to keep it going. Does that happen when using the browser to watch shows also?

Nope. When you make it fullscreen, the screen will go dark and from there it doesn't matter if it goes to sleep. The video plays normally.

Personally, I don't have any issues with it.

Aside from an essentially useless queue (as you can only add episodes one at a time), why don't you like it?

The queue is a big one. It's so unnecessarily useless that I get really annoyed by it. I just find their Roku app to be unintuitive in general, and it seems like they tried to make it slick looking instead of functional. Using AirPlay to navigate their website and watch shows may seem like an over complicated solution, but bookmarking shows serves as a queue of sorts and I can get to the shows I want to watch quicker that way.

I normally just jump down to the A-Z row in the Roku app and select my show from there.

I rarely am actively viewing more than 3 series at any time at Funimation, however. I expect if I was trying to keep track of a dozen series or more, the lack of a workable queue would prove frustrating.

They are supposed to eventually integrate the Roku queue with the one on the website, no doubt similar to the way CR's Roku queue works.
