I'm also one of those who loved the first season and dropped the second, made it more than halfway through though I think. : /

If season 3 were all about NibutanixDekomori then it'd be must watch.

I'd love a season 3 of Chuunibyou, but I'm not sure that would happen. KyoAni pretty much has the inability to make a third season of any of their shows, regardless of how popularity.

But not before I get a season 2 of Hyouka!

I'd want a season 3 just because I want to story to go somewhere. Season 2 felt exactly like season 1 except with a love triangle. Pinky holding is cute and all but come on 2 seasons of pinky holding is like... some sort of kindergarten drama.

I guess I'm one of the few who liked season 2. Season 1 was better, for sure, but I still enjoyed the second season... even though it was sort of annoying how their relationship made virtually no progress over 12 episodes...

Wait, is this actually a common complaint people had? Personally the one thing I really loved about it was the fact that they barely "progressed" physically at all throughout the season. They stuck with what made them comfortable rather than forcing themselves to meet the arbitrary expectations of a normal relationship, and in the end it wasn't presented as necessarily a bad thing or an "issue" that had to be overcome. And that's great. For me it was really refreshing to actually see a relationship like that in fiction for once.

I just watched the show for the first time like a week ago, and I honestly had no idea there was such a strong sentiment against the second season until this thread. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely a bit weaker than the first season plotways, but the fact that people PASSIONATELY HATE it is kind of baffling to me.

An awesome show but it really depends on what the basis of the story would be. I enjoyed both seasons but if they were to do a third season they would really need to do something different.

Was season 2 as good as 1, no, but it was still a good bridge season that makes me all the more excited for a third. I'm a huge fan of this series and I hope it gets more seasons.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts, except for one little thing:
I think just one more season will be enough. A season four would be too much (unless it focuses on a different character). While this is my favorite series (granted I liked it better as a full series rather than the individual seasons), one of the best things that one can add is restraint.
I want a season three, but no more beyond that.

I would love a season 3 myself as well. But I want the story to actually go somewhere, which I was hoping for in season 2 but never got as things were stuck in neutral. I didn't exactly like how season 1 ended, but the show leading up to that point has been great. In any case, I want to see this last season going someplace if it does come out.

I doubt that this anime would have a 4th season, most people seem to think there won't be a third because of the publishers track record. So I won't even think of what I want beyond a 3rd season. And damn it there better be more dekomori x nibutani.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but I actually enjoyed the second season far more than the first. It would be nice to see more, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Well, you're sort of not the only one here. I loved the second season, but I do like the first better. There are too many freaking trolls in this season.
I mean, every time. Every freaking time Rikka and Yuuta get, like, a smidgen close to kissing, an instant "convenient" plot device prevents them from doing so. I wouldn't mind it if it happened a few times, and we got one kiss at the end, but it never happens, and it just becomes stupid. I can take a few coincidences, but that was ridiculous.

^^^ reminds me of Shaukuga no Shauna. i dropped it at teh second sesaon when i realized they were never going to progress.

i for one love both seasons, tho i wished the fight were more season one style.

they make a cute couple.

I thought season 2 was beautiful, I mean, of course it didn't have an episode with the impact or emotion that any season one episode had, but everyone grew so much. I could definitely go for 1 more season.

A third season would be great, I wanna see Rikka lead the Chimera army. And the one complaint I had was actually about the end of season one. I felt as though it needed more falling action.

I haven't personally read the LN's, but I have read their summaries and other info about them, the interesting part I always find is that half the anime cast doesn't exist within the books.

Could you please spoil me:

It's sad when your ideas about where a show could go are better than the actual show itself. That's how S2 felt.......

This is so true. Wasted potential is what season 2 is.

I've never been a huge fan of Chunibyo. I liked the first season, didn't love it, but I saw massive potential with the first season. I was so excited to start the second season and I would have even said that the first 7 episodes were great, it was the latter half where it just crashed in burned. It did everything except focus on the Rikka and Yuuta's relationship on the last half of the show and it did all the fucking build up FOR NOTHING! Then I realized I could have passed on season 2 and would have been perfectly find in terms of story and character relationships. Rikka and Yuuta didn't go anywhere with their relationship from the ending of the first season, all it was one big fucking circle, that's what season 2 was.

Well as I said I haven't read the LN's so... I am not sure if they are different from the anime story wise. I know like half of the cast in the anime doesn't exist in the LN's for instance.

But...

The third LN from what I recall reading the synopsis over Yuuta and Rikka and the club (which in the LN half of the club doesn't exist so I guess it is just Yuuta, Rikka, and Nibutani...) are asked to help a friend in the Drama/Theater club with a play.

Depending on the play I guess they "could" kiss.
