Sunrise knows Mecha fights, Bones marshal arts, madhouse can make some crazy gunfights (Black LAGOON). But they all have one thing in common. Bad-ass choreographing that tries to ground the craziness(more of bending the rules physics) instead of cheating like a lot of unmentioned animes do. What are your favorite fights that more of bend the rules physics instead of out right disregarding them?

I have to agree, most of the other battles are rather soft but this fight is extremely well done.

Le Chevalier D'Eon had some excellent sword fights. And if you look past the fan service Freezing has some extremely well choreographed duels.

Would the end fight in Sword of the Stranger count, or would that be pushing it too far?

I'd like to mention any fight between Shinya Kogami and Shogo Makishima, I thought they were well done. Including the helmet chainsaw before their first fight as well.

Though it is a separate argument itself as to whether or not it is an anime, I believe The Legend of Korra's fight choreography (which is done by Studio Mir,) is really solid. Considering the martial arts they use almost looks like dancing, it is truly great to see all of the subtle animations in the show.

Naruto mostly defies the laws of physics, but I must say I found the fight between Kakashi and Kakuzu to be really visceral. It was especially exciting because it was mostly hand to hand combat.

I'll second the Cowboy Bebop Movie opening, as well.

Also, can't forget Heiwajima from Durarara vs vending machine. Best fight choreography. Period.
