What's the dividing line and how much do you need to separate yourself from the masses before you decide you are self centred?

I'm not asking for a play on words.

I think it is.
and I think that it's responsible for a great many things that are (to me) important, like culture.
So it's not all bad.
But I blame it for all the evils commonly associated with money. This is a separate topic that I will not go into further detail here.

Rather be an individual than a sheep.

The groupies probably gonna say "You're selfish because you disagree with our views".

Those dirty rascals.

i can't tell the difference between people even when they try hard to separate themselves i end up thinking their action is similar to other people. so i fail to see how individuality works.

Im a individual, however i often put on airs to fit in. I dont presay have a defined personality, because i am always flopping back in forth when im forced to be around other people.

My real personality is a bit, Dark, Sadistic and funny.

but i often put on facade of what i think others want to see when im around them.

I think being an individual is a beautiful thing. Being different is what sets you apart, and makes you beautiful for being yourself.

However, there are people who take it to an extreme and become absolutely idiotic.

You have people who did it right, like Marilyn Manson, who was a pioneer in the "Be yourself, be an individual, be proud of yourself" revolution.

but then you have all of these stupid rappers who believe they are individuals, and fail to realize being a druggy and trying to portray yourself as better than everyone else, doesn't make you an individual, it makes you an idiot.

Of course not, even the most relevant and influential people are mere grains of sand in the vast oceans of the celestial wireless...

Yes and no, in just about every situation, every time.

I'd like to add that being selfish is not necessarily a bad thing for society. If you can find a situation that's win-win, or even a win-win-win, then being selfish can be a Good Thing, right?

Being self-centered, however, I would agree is bad for society. And it usually doesn't work out so well for the self-centered person. (No, I'm not trying to play on words, not one bit.)

I was going to vote no but you didn't put one there.

Actually if you think about it, it's kind of a trap.
It goes both ways.

No never. Only when others are in the way of ones own individuality , it gets sacrificed for altruism.

Neither yes nor no are options in the poll. Stop being vague.
