I think everybody is forgetting that Henrietta also likes Shiro . She'd be much better suited to him than Minori or Akatsuki , anyway... Once you consider their personalities, Henrietta is the most mature and relates to Shiro in that department. She'd be the best woman for him, hands down.

Regardless of all that, I don't think Shiro isn't looking for romance anyways... I think he has feelings for the former leader of the Debauchery Tea Party, Kanami .

Them Mari-nee's, though.

If I wanted Shiroe to get with anyone, I always thought Marielle would get him to open up the most. What pisses me off is that she and Nao have such good chemistry together and I like that dynamic, too.

If anybody gets some spoilerish pictures of upcoming characters, monsters, or anything tell us.

I really want to know if they're going to improve animation over season one. A larger budget or something. Its possible I say, I sw Kingdom. Season 2 of Kingdom was insanely better.

I really would like seeing her be more amazing and less.....undesirable situations like the whole her and Akat fighting over Shiroe. I mean, not to say that they can't, it's just the way it's been handled has mostly felt unfair to Minori. Maybe it's just a cultural thing, but things like the cake-date didn't seem to really respect her as a character. I guess they were playing to how she is a teenager after all and whatnot, and maybe some cultural differences in how females in Japan carry themselves on a date, but generic harem-esque things really degraded her and didn't seem to treat her as the character worthy of the respect of Shiroe and the audience that she repeatedly proved herself to be.

What made that work entirely was the response after the fact. "This is a problem", "No it's not, you're just in pain." The dating elements are cliche, but seeing Minori start to see the real answer to her question is exquisite.

True, the standard setup and harem-esque situations did make the scene between her and her brother all the more powerful, because it offered to the viewer a moment to ponder if she really did feel something true for Shiroe, something beyond the usual portrayal of romance in anime like the cake-date: I didn't consider this before, but it does seem like it was intentional, for the cake-date itself to create a moment where the series allowed for Minori to refute being a character who was forced to bow to genre convention and trope. The cake-date itself seemed a bit self aware, as a few characters even commented on how lewd it was for Shiroe to be dating such younger-looking ladies and take his "harem" out for a stroll in town.

That's okay, we're not going to force you to like her----

Indeed. Minori is younger than Shiroe and the whole romance is unable to develop. However, time is something Log Horizon plays with. They will be trapped forva currently unknown length of time, I find the Minori romance only able to improve its chances as the show goes on. Goku didn't have a kid with Chichi the day they met, it took more than a few years. My parents, grandparents, and great grandparents all had larger age differences than Minority and Shiroe

But yea, team Minority...woooh.

It would definitely work if there was a time-skip, even a small one. And like you said, with the way the series plays with the concept of time, and the way that characters themselves bring it up could indicate that there might be a time skip in the series.

I don't think Minori fans are in the minority, but our foes will never cease to paint us as Team Minor.....

I'm glad I didn't participate in the thread when things were discussed like above in regards to the romance. I still haven't watched the final episode yet of season 1 so I should get to that.

Those were some of the most fun discussions tho'. Not just shipping but getting to who the characters are and how the writers and directors portrayed 'em, as well as how characters often went against the usual tropes.

Hero-worship isn't love, and we shouldn't pretend it is :p

Hero worship is a term more suited to Akatsuki, whose sole purpose is to praise the glasses Shiroe ponders upon. Minori had a child-like admiration for Shiroe, but that doesn's negate the scores and scores of character development. Minori has gained a fandom for a reason here. She's simply the better character, ergo my pick of choice on who wins the romance sub plot.

This is all a discussion of a romance sub plot that will likely never get a conclusion.

I'm not a big fan of "well she is too young" in the whole fiction romance subplot discussion. Unless Shiroe has a scene in which he does some kinda father or teacher thing, which would be weird, Minori is not a child, she is not Shiroes child, and she does not act or play the role of child character.
If she was indeed a child character, I would be 100% with you.

But admiration is not simply hero worship.

I don't think it's hero worship either. One of the things I said in the other thread and still acknowledge is that she treats Shiroe as an equal, and he treats her as one also. I think it arguably says more about her legitimate feelings for him because she is aware of what he suffers to help others, she understands him that well to see what he does and why he does it: that's not blindly worshiping someone, that is knowing who they are as a human being. Part of the feelings she has for him is admiration, sure, but it's a question about where those feelings are directed: it's to reciprocate what he has done for her, and what she knows he has done for others. That is fundamentally, 100 % different than objectifying someone and worshiping them as a hero or a savior or as a teacher or authority figure.

Henrietta might be a good match, we just need more of her, what little we have seen of her has shown her to be greatly compatible with Shiroe.

And it will definitely be great when Shiroe addresses the feelings he has for Kanami. It really is something the series needs to do, and it depending on how it's done (like how we all discussed in the other thread how it could potentially be done) it could really make the series even more amazing.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. The volume that the anime ended on had three purposes. 1. A bit of a break. This volume was supposed to be more lighthearted than the other ones and why not with all they've been through. 2. To segway into the next part of the journey. After this point there was little left to establish politically, they united the city and have begun friendly relationships with the people of the land. So the big reveal of Nureha and her schemes was necessary. 3. The completion of Minori's character arc, and the start of Akatski's. The down time allowed Minori to sort out her feelings and forced Akatski to realize that she needed to change and come out of her shell if she wanted to continue to support Shiroe and the rest of the guild.

I watched all of LH season 1 yesterday, I couldn't put it down. I have so much hype for this anime but I feel like if they make the episode count any less than 20 I'd be slightly disappointed (looking at you psycho pass). I dont think i could live with anything less

Ah, this thread IS up. Cool!

Still watching through s1 for the first time (I apparently made the unwise decision of dropping s1ep1 when it first simulcasted), but loving the show thus far.

Log Horizon is one of those shows you need to give a few episodes to get going. When it does it's just a great story and tries to approach the tired cliche of being trapped in games from a different standpoint. I'd suggest anyone should give it several episodes before they drop it since they'll miss out on the good stuff.

Can not wait for S2 Tetra is finally here! Naotsugu is doomed XD.
