If I find a spider, I normally kill it. Mainly as incentive for it's relatives and decedents to not bother me. The little bastards need to realize that they shouldn't fuck with humans. If I kill enough of them, it might get the message across.

First, you LET them wander your house? I mean I understand small spiders.. But if that thing is bigger then average (like Sado) it needs to die. In fire, no lava. Second, how can you tell male from female? And third, hope when you forced the other spider out of your shower you used lava.

Dark Fishing Spider bites are only about as serious as a wasp sting, and her presence meant that there was something for her to hunt. The more she ate, the less I had to deal with. Sado is also the first fishing spider that I've seen, and I enjoyed watching her.

I only shooed the cellar spider with water, because cellar spiders eat other spiders, as well as bugs. They're hilariously harmless to humans, too. Their "big defense" and "attack" is shaking their web. lol They don't like people, so they like to stay well out of the way of humans.

Male Dark Fishing Spiders and Long Bodied Cellar Spiders are much smaller than the females. Males of either species cannot be as big as the specimens I witnessed.

I use my resident spiders, house centipedes, and harvestmen to keep my home's insect population in check, but I'll kill or toss out those that annoy me. I draw the line at particularly dangerous spiders, like black widows, hobo spiders, and brown recluse. Those I will kill without mercy.

You're definitely braver and waaaay more intelligent then i when it comes to spiders. I didnt even know brown recluses were in PA, nor did i know what a hobo spider, or dark fishing spider was before using Google. If i ever saw either of these creatures id run, yes! Run from a little bug, they're scary. Thanks for the lesson though! I know now which spiders to stray away from with priority.

If Uncle Ben was never been killed, Spiderman would never been existed.

I am very live and let live with most spiders. I love the cute little jumping spiders - and OMG those peacock spiders are wonderous! I do draw the line at brown recluse and black widows - I will kill them if I find them in the house or somewhere I have to work outside. I am infamous for carefully capturing most insects or arachnids and escorting them outside if they are in the house. I have also finally reluctantly started to kill the harvestman spiders that invade houses here in New Mexico because I found out - yes, the hard way - that their bite hurts like a ... it hurts a whole lot. And the littler the spider is, the worse it hurts.

But how much do I like spiders? Well... I kinda wrote a book about them.

Why did I bother coming to this thread knowing that I have extreme phobia towards spiders:

I like being able to distinguish the safe/okay from threatening spiders, because I'm very paranoid of particularly toxic creatures. I'll freak out (usually mild to moderate anxiety) when I know or strongly suspect that an animal's venom/toxin(s)/bite is dangerous, so I research to avoid me making a fool out of myself over nothing.
