Horimiya

Synopsis

Hori may seem like a normal teenage girl, but she's a completely different person after school. In her workaholic parents' absence, Hori has been like a parent for her little brother since she was young herself. Between taking care of her brother, feeding them both, and housework, she doesn't have much time for a usual teenage social life. One day, she meets someone else who does not present his true self at school: a quiet, glasses-wearing boy called Miyamura. She'd assumed he was bookish, and possibly an otaku, but Hori couldn't have been more wrong. Outside of school, Miyamura is a friendly guy with many piercings, and he's not very good at academics. Now the two of them have someone with whom they can share both halves of their lives!

This is a cute little down to earth romance that I have been following for a while. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't yet. Things have started moving very quickly in the last few chapters and I have to ask those who are following this as well. Did what I think just happened actually happen, or am I assuming too much? Answers in spoilers boxes please.

I freaked out, it was kinda random considering what was happening before it all happened.

It was one of the best "first time" chapters I have ever read. In retrospect, the sexual tension had been building a LOT. It was just masked by the side-romantic complications of the two girls, cookies, cupcakes, and the buddy who used to like Hori-san. A truly radiant chapter...

This manga SOOOO deserves an anime, and not the ones based on the original web-comic, but one based on this manga with it's beautiful character designs, great pacing, and stronger emphasis on romance over comedy.

Hmmm... Let's see...

The shows that I view as being most similar to this in terms of tone and art are Wandering Son and One Week Friends. AIC did Wandering Son, and are also responsible for some classics of the romantic comedy genre like Ah! My Goddess. They would probably do well.

One Week Friends is a Brians Base production, as well as Kawii Complex, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, My Little Monster and several other recent lighthearted romances. That probably gives them the edge...

So I'd say Brians Base...

Probably my fault for entering this forum without being caught up with the manga but a spoiler alert would be nice..

I felt the latest chapter was a bit rushed. But hey, it was wonderful. The whole damn chapter was beautiful.

I thought that it was more real in that any moment, especially a fight, can become romantic at the drop of a hat. Even more so when you are young. I thought it was a nice change from the norm in manga.

Yes I agree this would be an awesome anime! I thought whoever did Say I Love you did a good job and it kind of reminds me of this manga with the outsider falling in love thing.
