Hey all! We're excited to announce that we will also be streaming Call to Cosplay this season on Crunchyroll!

Myx TV will premiere its latest original reality series, “Call to Cosplay,” at 8 p.m. TODAY, June 30th. But each episode will be exclusively available to premium members on Crunchyroll for one week after its initial airing on Myx TV.

The series, hosted by Crunchyroll's own Keith Kawamura, and consists of six episodes with two cosplayers competing against each other each week for a cash prize and bragging rights among their peers. Contestants are given a theme, budget, mystery element and less than eight hours to create a character and costume from scratch before their creations and performances are judged by a panel of experts and scored on four main criteria: authenticity, creativity, “wow” factor and craftsmanship. Weekly contest themes will include sports anime, magical girls, American/non-Japanese characters, throwback anime (pre-1990) and heavy metal armor throw-down.

“ ‘Call to Cosplay’ is our way of showing genuine respect and affection for the passionate group of fans and artists who represent this thriving sub-culture and we’re happy to give them a place to demonstrate their skills on Myx TV,” said Miguel Santos, general manager of Myx TV.

You'll find a few Crunchyroll Ambassadors taking part in the challenges! So make sure you tune in and join all the fun!

Why waste money licensing this when 90% of your user base can't even watch it.

I think its more like 99% that can't watch it. Then again, I'm not sure 99% would watch it if they could.

I wanted to watch this series too. :/ Looks like I'll just have to go elsewhere to watch it.

The more people who can watch something the better. Every extra area given access to a series which they otherwise would not have is a step in the right direction, and any such step is not a waste.

Must've been an extremely cheap buy, just to make it look like they have more to offer.

I'm trying to make sense of this. The fact is no one is going to be able to watch it, what is the user base of non english speaking europeans? I'm sure its very very small compared North America and the english speakers of europe.

There are quite a lot of people around from Eastern Europe/German-speaking parts of Europe/Spain and Portugal/Scandinavia (or would Scandinavia count as English-speaking?), and I have seen a few from parts of the middle east.
Can't say I've seen all that many people from North Africa on the site, but I'm sure there are a few hiding away.

Please define "English speaking territories". Does it include the Netherlands? I'm getting an "unavailable in your region" message. Is that intended or a mistake?

Seems like a nice anime judging from the cover art, too bad practically the majority of CR's audience can't even watch it ¬.¬

We're probably a small group... but yeah, it's interesting how CR tries to get into these regions. No-Rin was available only in German and French speaking Europe.. this one.. well, seems like someone snatched the license away.
