yes, I was thinking just the other day of watching that. I seen it like when I was 12 or something back when it was on Adult Swim. My brother isn't really into anime but me and him had a good time watching Case Closed. Plus it looks like there's heaps of episodes I never seen.

The original Sailor Moon anime. Viz Media apparently has an exclusive deal with Hulu to stream the show in the US, but that deal is not in force in Canada, making the show up for grabs up here. I want Crunchyroll to acquire this show from Viz for viewers in Canada only. I will not subscribe to Crunchyroll unless it does so.

Viz has the rights to stream the show in Canada, they simply aren't using it (because they prefer to use Hulu, which is a US-only service).

US only licenses for anime are about as rare as hen's teeth. For that purpose, the US and Canada are joined at the hip. For better or worse, media licenses are rarely of the "use it or lose it" type.

Are you saying that the show will never be streamed in Canada? That is unacceptable, and AFAIAC, actionable. For this reason, Viz should never have landed that title.

My terms for subscription to Crunchyroll remain in place. Original SM anime streaming in Canada or I keep my wallet shut.

No, they have stated they plan to have a Neon Alley solution for Canada "soon". The question that remains is: How soon is "soon"?

From http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2014-02-11/neon-alley-evolves-april-1st:

Viz Media will continue to make programming decisions for Neon Alley, and will release additional news on Neon Alley availability for Canadian users in the near future.

It is on their Twitter page (see the text in the left side panel) that they use the word "soon".

Keep in mind that they aren't the only company to do this. While Funimation makes their content available to Canada, they often end up with licenses that cover more than just the US and Canada. While they sometimes sublicense the rights they may acquire for the UK, Australia, or New Zealand (to companies that don't compete in the US and Canada markets), there isn't much evidence of them doing so for anywhere else.

And I don't believe that statement for one second. The word "soon" to me is a big red flag. Experience has demonstrated to me that it is nothing more than doublespeak for "never"—an indication that they are unwilling or unable to follow through on that intention. My position right now is "exact date or GTFO".

As it stands right now, Viz Media has committed a cardinal sin against me—stabbed me right in the heart by single-handedly desecrating my fandom of Sailor Moon.

As you might gather from my response, I too am somewhat dubious. Back in the early days of personal computing, we used to have the phrase "Real Soon Now™". That was used whenever the industry promised a program or feature, but we had no confidence it would ever be delivered.

Hunter x Hunter 1999 would be cool. I know it was never finished, but I've only seen clips and it would be awesome to watch it in HD =)
