to start with iv been going on myanimelist for anime title how long is the anime series and rating's manga, music singer's etc. then they came these bad reviewers. lets say i finish watching inuyasha. beautiful story romance action and comedy super natural and repetitive flashbacks that get so addicting lol and the name's kagome..kagome!! ..inuyashaa..inu-yasha!!. anyway's my point being is the poeple on myanimelist talk trash and keep poeple from watching good anime. in general all anime is great i love them all. i thought we otaku's are trying to get more poeple into anime not be against them. what are your thoughts and opinion's on this site?

I like the site because I find it useful for remembering anime or looking up information on others. I rarely to practically never use it for reviews as other people's opinions are that..opinions. I may see what they disliked about an anime, but if it's insignificant, I ignore it. I think it's a useful site, but again, I don't care for reviews so it may depend on who else you ask.

If a person is being honest in a review then they aren't bad reviewers. Not everyone is going to like the same things. Honest negative reviews are the only ones I ever pay attention to because I look for things that might make me not like a show as much as the description makes it seem like I will. There isn't much that will dissuade me from watching an anime that looks good to me though and that is the important part. There would have to be elements mentioned in a review that I simply can't stand in order for me to allow it to be the deciding factor in whether I watch something or not. Most of the time I will use the bad reviews as a sort of warning of what I might not like and then watch it for myself so that I can form my own opinion. Those who put too much emphasis on the reviews, good or bad, deserve to miss out on good shows.

I generally use it for putting down what anime iv seen but i sometimes even forget to update my list. It is good though for me seeing just how many different anime's iv seen and keeping track of them.

I'm sorry, I couldn't get past the terrible sentence structure, spelling and grammar in the first post. I might care about what you have to say when you can form a proper sentence.

You can't just take things by their face values. So if I drawn something and colored it a little, otakus would go gaga on them.
They shouldn't.

I only refer to myanimelist to find out whether the animes that I used to watch when I was a kid are available somewhere to read or watch.
I surely want to watch Yaiba the Master Swordsman. But, online, there's only 20+ episodes available for viewing. I want to watch the complete series (in english dubbed / subtitles).

It's only 50 episodes.

sorry to say this OP, I don't mean to be rude, but you really need to write in proper English. I'm not entirely sure if you are a foreigner or just in a hurry.

Anyhow with that out of the way, you have to realize that not everyone shares you opinions over what is good and what isn't. My anime list compiles scores from countless people who rate and review anime to rank the anime in their system but this doesn't mean that the rankings are what you personally would consider to be your favorite anime. Many of my favorite animes are no where near the top of the list on that website nor would they be considered to be some of the "best" anime of all time, despite me thinking so personally. Just because the average person likes something doesn't mean that you have to as well and conversely just because you like something doesn't mean they have to like it either. The thing is whether or not you let the reviews and ratings on that site influence your own opinions of whats good and what is bad. You are human, having confirmation that something is good is comforting to say the least, though it isn't something that is essential. Im sure there are many things that only you personally enjoy while others don't simply because of a difference in taste: don't let the negative reviews colour your opinion of what it is that you like or hate.

I think I understood the OP...

And it sounds like he saw a bad review for an anime he liked and is now throwing a tantrum here on CR?

You do realize people will hate your favorites just as people will like the ones you hate right? Best get used to that, because that happens in everything... not just anime.

It seems to me that there are certain people who watch anime that dislike series that become popular and try to make those who do enjoy those popular series feel bad.

Basically I never take reviews seriously unless there is a large consensus or I'm spending money on something. Don't let some negative review ruin the show for you.

A foreigner's English would be better and wouldn't misuse apostrophes to make plurals. Sorry, I find apostrophe abuse extremely annoying. :p

I tried MAL and disliked it because of the interface. On Anime-Planet it was much easier to go through the list and add and rate the 400+ shows I've watched. Trying to do that on MAL would've taken days.

Oh, I actually love MAL! I use it to keep track of the many titles I watch, and whenever someone recommends something to me, I go on MAL and check the rating and read some reviews to decide if I want to watch something or not. It's a really good resource, I think.

Of course, you're not going to agree with everything a person says about your favorite anime, particularly when they're writing a review - and see, the point of a review is to talk about the positive and negatives, which every series has, so that whoever is reading has more information to base their decision to watch something on!

For example, InuYasha! Common criticism is that there's lots of filler. And see, that criticism is totally valid when someone is reviewing an anime, and if I'm a person who likes anime that is fast paced and see a review that says its kind of slow, I might not want to pick up InuYasha. That doesn't mean that anime is bad or that I have bad taste, it just means it's not my cup of tea and by checking out info about it before hand, I've saved myself the displeasure of watching a title I don't like. And yes yes, don't just trust a handful of reviews on the internet, maybe you'll like it, etc etc etc, but still. Reviews are a good tool, I think. They're also great for creating discussion!

Also, I don't think your issue is with MAL - I think it's with reviews, and people being critical of what they watch, which is a little silly. There's nothing wrong with accepting that something you like has flaws. I'm a fan of InuYasha myself but I totally agree the pacing of the anime is awful. Doesn't mean the entire thing is. Doesn't mean that just because I'd watch it anyways, everyone else should.

Pretty sure OP's post is a giant fuck you to Rule 9 of the site rules.

I mean I can understand it. But no one who wants to be taken seriously types like this dude. You're gonna get less thoughts and opinions on MAL's shittiness and more corrections and people making fun of your horrible typing if that's how you go about doing your shit online.

A few mistakes are perfect. But that first post needs a clean-up.

ON TOPIC: I'm an asshole who values decent and proper English but I think MAL's a piece of crap site as well. Only visit it to find info on animes that CR doesn't show info on or have.
