Pretty sure OP's post is a giant fuck you to Rule 9 of the site rules.

I mean I can understand it. But no one who wants to be taken seriously types like this dude. You're gonna get less thoughts and opinions on MAL's shittiness and more corrections and people making fun of your horrible typing if that's how you go about doing your shit online.

A few mistakes are perfect. But that first post needs a clean-up.

ON TOPIC: I'm an asshole who values decent and proper English but I think MAL's a piece of crap site as well. Only visit it to find info on animes that CR doesn't show info on or have.

While I understand why you are bashing his English sentence structure let's not forget one thing, It's an opinion. While I don't necessarily read reviews I do write them on anime I re-watch here on CR. That means they are my opinions on the anime I've watched not a fact. This is what the OP failed to understand.

I do understand his point though about people on MAL bashing certain anime that does not need it. Like for example, Accel world. People did not like the anime not based on the story but his appearance. I understand OP frustration but he has to realize that some opinions are Null and void.
Nice profile picture you look nice.

I'll go ahead and admit I have no right to judge MAL. I'm just piggybacking on the majority I've heard which was negative. I'm more of a pessimist so negativity reaches me easier. I may be wrong, but it's forums could be crap, the site could be crap, I dunno.

Just judging by others really which I admit is absurdly shallow and wrong.

And thanks. I wish I still looked that nice. The anticipation for college, and once I enter it really, are going to send my great looks into the gutter I tell ya. I hate school. But I have no choice for my field.

The site does a lot of good. You don't need to use the site just for it's reviews. Many series don't even have a single review. Just because an anime got a poor review, wouldn't necessarily deter people from watching it. Now if you're talking about the anime ranking, that's a different story...

I agree MAL is a badly dated site with an iffy community. That's why I use http://hummingbird.me/ now, it is much newer and still getting frequently updated.

Seems like the OP doesn't like it simply because other people have a difference of opinion on anime he likes, in which case I have no idea how you're going to survive in the real world. I think you're grossly missing the point of reviews. If someone doesn't like an anime or thinks it's bad their review would reflect that opinion. It's not about blindly praising anime because you want people to watch more. You wouldn't give a terrible book a good review just because you want people to read more. You wouldn't praise a poem smeared on a wall in shit just to be nice. And I find it very unlikely you've loved, or will love, every single anime you've watched. You must like some more than others, in which case, you'll have some concept of quality, in which case there'll be anime you'll consider bad quality and therefore utter crap.

Now, onto MAL. I mainly use it to keep track of the anime I've watched. I pay very little attention to reviews, and not just on MAL. Everyone likes different things and I have a wide range of things I like, so reviews from other users are of very little value to me.

I'd smear a poem of shit on a wall for you anyday bb.

I use Hummingbird as well, and i quite like it. That being said, i still use MAL as well. I like to have my list at two sites, just in case something should happen with the database on one of the sites. And with Hummingbirds import feature doing so is easy.

I stopped using MAL because they promoted illegal fansubs.

I use MAL because I like their mobile set-up and it's easy for me to keep track of what I'm watching. Sometimes I consult the reviews but you have to keep in mind that the reviews are just the opinions of other normal people like yourself. They're not the absolute hardcore truth about a show, they're opinion.

I actually like MAL. It keeps what I watch organized and helps me decide what I'm going to watch next. Now for the negative reviews, keep in mind that you're on the internet. Not everyone around you is going to enjoy shows you found were masterpieces.

They're obviously someone's personal opinion, so don't always take account in them either.

the site is really helpful and i dont know how you could really watch anime without it, unless you keep track fo your anime on something else. reviews are opinions, so if you dont want to see different opinions, just dont look at them. i mainly use the site to keep track of the anime i watch but i also find reviews helpful and i sometimes place a review on a anime if i feel i know what im talking about.

The community on MAL is kind of idiotic. For example, ''if you like this anime than your taste is crap!'' or something a long the lines. I stop using the forums because it seems everyone there is a 12 year old and is not eligible to hold a conversation without being rude. I only go there to rate my anime on there, but that's pretty much it.

I don't know about the reviews, but most I just shrug off, and look for myself if they are bad or not. In the end though an opinion is an opinion.

On another note, I used MAL forums a while back, complete crap with the majority of the community.

Did you just read a review that was heavily criticized? I'm all for hating on bad reviewers that don't know the meaning of being a true critic versus just saying whatever they hated about the animation, but I'd say at least half of the reviewers of whom I've seen have "more negatives than positives" actually know what they're talking about.

I wouldn't call them bad reviewers lol.

I dislike the site precisely for the opposite reason of the OP. I don't think they are critical enough in a lot of them.

What a stupid thread, no offense, but you're saying MAL is bad because people write reviews criticising an anime you're a fanboy of ? their reviews are a lot more impartial than the ones in CR, i didn't know i'd have to tell you that but all reviews are supposed to be read with a grain of salt, considering someone's taste in genres being the biggest factors, i see endless reviews of Ecchi animes where people shit on it because " What's with the fan service, bro ?" but i don't go out of my way to create a thread whining about it.

It might be but its nice to have something that keeps track of your anime/manga and what episode/chapter you might be on.
