Astrid giggled knowingly. "Love suits you," she whispered an offhanded remark and sighed dreamily. "But anyways, I forgot that you're not of this world. Your grandmother may be right, and staying here for too long, too often may have effects on your body in the long run. You would know better than I if that were true." Astrid took a sip of her tea before speaking again. "I really wish I knew how to help you with finding your balance. If you come up with a way that needs my assistance, let me know."

It really doesn’t take much for her to get distracted, Astrid thought and laughed at the scene which proved Alice’s own statement. "She," Astrid corrected while she set down her tea cup and stood up to look through her bookshelves. "Hester is a girl." She leafed through the pages of a thick, hardcover book, looking for anything that may help Alice. "I find it endearing, the way you go from one thought to the next."

Alice, Guardian Of Fable

Alice giggled sheepishly she played with the cat still managing to continue with conversation with Astrid. Which for Alice was a miracle in its self.

"It's good to know that it drives most people crazy. Its probably why I don't have that many friends at home, well that and you share secrets with friends and I can't really share my one big secret there safely now can I?"

Alice lavished the poor cat with affection, using the furry animal as substitute for where he thoughts really lingered.

"You think Kael is ok? I mean I guess that's silly right. Course he's ok, he managed to take two supernatural enhanced bears by himself and walked away Hunter's Cove shouldn't be a challenge right? Will he really come back you think, you do think I annoy him. I tend to annoy people but I think I already told you that didn't I? "

Kael continued to cut through the thickness of the forest greenery going slower than when he first started. As fatigue began to set in he thought to himself, " I'll meet up with the client and then I'll do research on this town. It should be simple as usual. Once I finish, I'll go find Alice." Kael made a mistake of thinking of Alice because with it came rushing thoughts of her and the uncomfortable feeling in his stomach. He stopped falling to one knee, " What is this? I've never felt so nauseous in my life." He stood to his feet once more and put his daggers away. The thoughts of Alice continued, but suddenly he started feeling anxious which gave him a sudden burst of energy. The thought of seeing Alice had gave him strength as he pushed the vines and plants out the way reaching the edge of the forest. As he held the vines aside with both hands he beheld the city of Hocus Pocus. He was on a hill so he could see the roof tops of the pointy little houses and a few witches flying on broom sticks. He thought to himself, " This must be it," as he started descending from the forest to the Hocus Pocus.

Kael could be seen sliding down the dirt portion of the hill as if he was surfing before he jumped off landing on the ground. He dusted himself off and shook his cloak free of dirt before he continued further into Hocus Pocus. It wasn't a very busy city, but Kael found it interesting as he witnessed fairies fly past him and young children racing each other down the street on broom sticks. Kael was from the human world so he only heard of these creatures and happenings only in stories. However, Kael never showed it. He stopped before a white little hut with a pointy roof that read "Pocus clinic." Kael thought to himself, " First I need to get this checked out." Kael walked into the clinic that was empty. He walked up to the front desk where a lady in uniform sat up from her nap. " Oh! How can I help you sir?" She was chirpy as she spoke. Kael replied, " Nausea," as the lady wrote something on her note pad and directed Kael to sit in a seat. Kael sat in the seat and hung his head low. He hated medical facilities but he was only willing to get a checkup nothing more. After a few minutes, a tall half beast looking man with a deep voice called Kael's name from a door. Kael followed the man in the back to a room as the closed and locked.

Kael sat on a cot in a room as the beast looking man did a causal check up on Kael, such as look in his mouth, ears, nose, and listen to various parts of his torso with a stethoscope. The beast man doctor stopped when he got to Kael's bandage and looked at Kael, "Lets have a look under here as you explain what happened." The doctor began to unravel the bandage as Kael talked, " I got into a fight, this was the result and Alice tended to my wound." The doctor finished unwrapping the bandage exposing the now closed up wounds. They were hardly visible, but one could tell they once were there. The beast man doctor sat back in his chair roller chair that was pulled up next to Kael and looked at Kael with an eyebrows raised, " Whoever this Alice is, she did a job well done. Your scar is hardly visible." Kael nodded his head and his stomach began to turn again. He grabbed his stomach as the doctor continued, "Well, all your vitals seem to be fine and I don't see anything alarming. Tell me exactly what you are feeling." Kael reluctant but obediently speaks, " I don't know really know. Every time I start thinking of Alice my stomach begins to turn and I feel nauseous." The doctor sits up straight and crosses his arms with a smile on his face, " So that is the problem." He laughs a deep yet slow laugh, " I've heard of love sick before, but it seems like you young man are having literal symptoms." Kael looks at the doctor confused. The doctor begins to put his equipment away, " Love can be a tricky thing. Some get butterflies, some obsessive, and others get so caught in it, it makes them sick. I can see you've never been in love before." Kael began to put his shirt back on, "Then how do I cure it?" The doctor looks back at Kael as he finishes up washing his hands, "Accept it. First loves are the strongest and the more you deny it the worse you will feel. It's only natural." Kael stood up and walked out, "What's the point of coming if you aren't going to give me a real diagnosis and cure." He wasn't convinced and felt his visit was a complete waste of time. He thought to himself while walking out the door, " I knew I shouldn't have come here."

Alice, Guardian Of Fable

Alice continued to lavish the cat with extra doses of affection.

"So what else do you have to get your shop ready for visitors tomorrow? Do you need some help?"

She was trying to keep herself busy, her rounds were well since over and she could return home she was delaying. Alice knew it too but she didn't care, she wasn't going to be happy until she was at least certain that Kael had gotten back from the cove of safely.

Kael continued to roam the streets as he read the details of the note and thought to him self, "This is going to take longer than expected. I don't know any of these names." A light bulb went off in his head, "Alice is a guardian. I'm sure she'll know." Truth was Kael could have easily done research. He just was trying to find an excuse to see Alice other than the real reason. Now he had one.

Alice, Guardian Of Fable

Alice played with hem of her blouse as she wiggled in her seat. She needed to do something she feel her energy building. She waited patiently in the garden outside of Astrid shop. If she wanted to should always split herself in two again but the last events showed her that didn't go quiet as well as expected.

Kael was wandering around at this point. He came up to a pointy, old, and creepy looking house. He looked down at the note with one hand rubbing his head full of red hair. He stood before the creepy house looking back at the note and the house. The house was right literally directly across Astrid's shop. Kael's back was toward Astrid's house and garden so didn't know Alice was in the garden. He sighed as he continued to stand there in as the sight of the wicked house gave him the creeps.

Alice, Guardian Of Fable

Alice began to rock back and forth on the legs of the chair, the cat sensed the danger long before Alice and quickly lept from her arms. The sudden leaping action form the cat brought on the inevitable to light. She soon came to the ground with a loud crash.

"OUCH!!! Not again..." she groaned at herself upon the ground.

She sat their a few minuets starring at the sky from her new place on the ground. As she started at the sky a feeling of deja vu came over her. Her first meeting with Kael she had absently mildly caused her fall, but that end result had been once more pleasant. That event had ended with her Kael arm's getting her first real good look at his bronze face and just how brilliant those eyes of his were. A flush of red brushed Alice's cheeks as she continued to absent mindlessly out the sky. A soft giggle escaped her lips, it was good to laugh especially at yourself. She continued to daydream, a picture of Kael hovering above her clear in her mind. Then a flash of red, the memory of those deep gashes emblazoned on his back.

"I SWEAR NOONE BETTER HAVE HURT HIM FURTHER!!! I'LL TEAR DOWN HUNTER'S COVE PIECE BY PIECE....once...I find it...and only if they did something wrong..."

Alice was left with a pout upon her face, she hated waiting, she hadn't even more not knowing.

Kael had entered into the creepy house with the creaky door. About 15 minutes later, the door to the creepy house had swung open and Kael walked out with a quickness, closed the door, and gasped for air. He bent over and grabbed his knees as he gasped for air. He had been holding his breath trying not to inhale the foul air in the old place. He thought to himself while finally calming down and still bent over, " The longest 15 minutes of my life. So I just have to find the house the old witch mentioned, take the book without being spotted, and return it. No problem." Kael stood up straight to realize it was now night and the sky was full of stars. Hocus Pocus had a strange beauty to it at night as Kael scanned the area noticing how all the houses light up with various color. It was fitting for a town in a fairy tale world. He looked forward and notice the garden, which was lit up with lights making it stand out now noticeable because it was dark. He walked over to the hedge to get a better look. The hedge was the only barrier keeping him from walking into the garden. Suddenly he stopped in his tracks when he saw Alice sitting on the floor of the garden. The lights were shinning inward on her like a spot light, enhancing her features such as her golden hair and teal eyes. The sight before him was sudden and took him by surprise, he couldn't react. However, the uneasy turning in his stomach had finally went away. He felt completely calm just standing there, starring, unable to move, captivated.

Alice, Guardian Of Fable

Alice rolled to her feet her pout quickly changing to one of determination. She balled her right hand and used it to strike the palm of her left.

"That's it I can't just sit here! I need to do ...to do something!! To clean, to garden.."

She groaned then messed her already dirtied blonde lock.

"Who am I kidding I need to find him! But I have no idea really were to start..we'll I do but I don't but I do! "

She was both talking to Astrid and herself and hopped one of them could make sense of her jambled brain soon enough.

Kael watched as Alice went into the house breaking him from his spell. Kael took a deep breath just now realizing he wasn't breathing while he was dazed. Kael sat down criss cross with his back against the hedge. He sat there suprised and thought, "What was that?....Am I really......in....love?" His eyes widened at this realization, "But how?....when?" He stood up and looked toward the garden tempted to see where Alice went. He jumped over the hedge into the garden an kneeled. He silently rolled out of the sight of the lights so he wouldn't be seen. He could now see Alice inside the house. He occassionally took cover paranoid he was spotted.
