What is the some general opinions of MAL from crunchyroll members? I am curious as to what everyone thinks about the site in general, positive or negative, and what role it plays with your relationship/beginnings of anime.

I only use it as a list for the anime I've watched, currently watching, and plan/want to watch. I don't care for any of its other features.

I only maintain a MAL because it is widespread. As a blogger, it helps me be a little more accessible. I only keep completed shows there.

I use Hummingbird almost exclusively otherwise. It's prettier, functional and has huge potential for improvement, as is always being show.

Use it to keep track of my anime, also to find other anime to watch. Wouldn't have ventured off into SOL or comedy anime had I not been led to it from MAL

I used to not write down what I've watched. Then I started to forget some shows I've seen after about 200 unique series and decided to write them down on paper. Soon I discovered the great tool that is MAL to help organize and store all the series I have ever watched or touched. Hummingbird is a newer alternative. ATM it has less utility than MAL but has potential to be a better alternative with improvements.

I think that keeping track of what you have watched is very important, therefore, tools like MAL and Hummingbird are amazing.

I like the user-submitted recommendations, a good number are dumb but others are useful.

I've been using Anime-Planet to keep my anime viewing habits (and Manga habits lately) up to date. I prefer it to MAL because the whole process is much slicker, though not as detailed, which is not really needed for my purposes.

The fourms are so so awful. There are no notifications for posts being quoted and it's just horrible to look at. I do love the reviews and the my anime list though.

Why do these MAL threads keep popping up? Anyway I'll say what I've said in every one of them, but I'll make it short this time.

Community and forums- 99% absolute trash elitists who'll gang up on anyone who isn't known for reviews or has less than 200 views on their lists....and they better not have given bleach a 10! These forums are a godsend compared to that travesty. People here actually get along.

Everything else about the site- AWESOME. me love MAL long time.

I used to think their ratings were pretty decent....until Attack on Titan

The only reason I use it is when I'm watching an anime and think "isn't that the voice of...."

I avoid it because my OCD-ness when it comes to making lists would make me waste a lot of time there.
