If wages go up, you can't blindly raise prices because past a certain point, customers won't be willing to pay. So yes, the effect of wages increasing is that some lines of business will no longer become profitable. But it will also open new possibilities because people that were making $7/hr are now making a lot more.

The real problem is that it's a waste to transfer money to the poor, who don't have money to trade in swaptions but will probably waste it on crap like food, drink, and maybe a decent TV once in a while. Boo!

Its wal-mart. They only care about the $. They have no problems destroying local economies. Having a local Walmart is a suicidal loop;; people shop at walmart because of the low prices, yet their economy is destroyed because they shop at walmart, causing them to rely on walmart's low prices.

If you kept the minimum wage set to matching the cost of living over the years from when they made first created it we would be getting paid around $21 an hour and it would be increasing, but someone decided to not raise it like it should have been and most people did not notice until now unfortunately most people are uneducated and don't realize what it should be. I am for a minimum wage increase and they should make it match was it actually costs to live not well but decently.

Also Costco here pays 21 dollars straight across the board to all its starting employees. I know a guy who quit working where I work, Market of Choice to go there but it was only because the starting wage is so high. My job is really nice with decent pay considering that minimum wage is not what it should be and I get health benefits. I get bonuses, birthday pay, vacation time after 3 yrs I get 2 weeks a year. This is really nice after getting out of fast food service.

Also there is always fast food which is supposed to be the starting place for anyone without a college degree...you work there a couple of months if you have no other skills and don't manage to impress management during initial interviews. This is all to get your foot into the work you actually want, nobody will be eternally unemployed you just have to be willing to take a job, any job at first.

Another note Walmart is the worst payer the only ones with overtime are management level usually and they do take out insurance on their older not healthy employees which is how they make tons of money then they and other companies get massive amounts of money given back to them by the government around tax time. The Government and Americans need to quit giving into that stuff...money does not trickle down...rich people have it all and don't spend very much more money across a broad spectrum because they have everything already.

Also I think people who donate to charities should not get money back...it's something you give from the heart without getting anything in return to help those in need...

Charity - The voluntary giving of help, typically in the form of money, to those in need.

We actually don't shop for most of our stuff at Walmart and we have 2 nearby me. I would rather pay more money for good produce and meat at MoC instead of Walmart's crappy stuff....everything there is cheaply made. And if not MoC then Safeway or little mom and pop stores

They are greedy. They want to maximize their profits. If you want to keep buying cheap products and goods, then you have accept the fact that the people who work for Walmart (either the hard-working people on the manufacturing lines/factory or the cashier) are going to get minimum pay. If you are willing to pay for somewhat more expensive products in order to improve the conditions of Walmart's workers, be my guest.
