Find manga for anime series you like. Chances are if you liked the anime you will like the manga.

I personally prefer starting manga from the beginning, others think its a waste of time to read manga of stuff you have already seen animated so they will recommend starting the manga where the anime left off. That is something you will have to figure out yourself.

This is pretty much how I started as well, and would recommend doing so.

I also recommend starting from the beginning, since many Anime skip out parts from the manga.
Some even skip out very crucial parts. (Damn you, KamiNomi. I want my Tsukiyo arc!!).

Depends what genre you like though, but i can mention my favorites.

Shounen, martial arts, action - The breaker and The breaker new waves
Psychological, romance, School life - Aku no hana (My number 1)
Romance, Shoujo, drama - Kimi no todoke
Ecchi, drama, romance - Nozoki ana (Almost hentai, but great story)
Supernatural, body switching, romance, comedy - Yamada and the seven witches
Sports, shounen, comedy - Kuroko no basket

I haven't read a lot of manga yet, but i really enjoyed those ^^

Gantz.

Personally enjoy the way the mangaka brings out the sensuality of his characters. Not recommended for people under 18 years old.

Hi,

Sorry to close this on you, but there's actually a thread for just these sorts of questions - the Recommend me a manga thread Feel free to post the same thing in there, I'm sure you'll get some good tips, but if you list off some of the genres or animes you liked, it might help some, too.
