There's a lot of anime out there, far more than any one person can watch, so i'm wondering, what anime have you seen that you think should have been far more popular than it was? or maybe some that you'd like to see become more mainstream for everyone else to enjoy.

I really liked Air Gear, yet none of my fellow anime watcher friends have heard of it. So that, I guess.

Mainstream is not always a good thing. Making an anime mainstream would mean changing parts of it to fit the majority. If you like an anime for the parts of it that make it obscure, why would you want to mainstream it?

But on the thread topic, I would like to have seen Code:Breaker become more popular. Despite the annoying Female Lead, The show was rather good in my opinion. I like how it made me think about the morality of killing someone who is evil. I'm aware Death Note does the same, but DN doesn't have cool super powers.

This one is a surprise to me, too. Almost no one talks about it. Maybe it got overshadowed by other series when it came out, and just never caught on?

I can think of all kinds of examples from the '80s that never quite attracted attention despite all the ground they broke at the time (e.g. Gall Force).

I always bring it up in terms of underwatched anime: Speed Grapher.

No clue if "K" aka "K-project" was mainstream, but it was great imo.

This comment makes a bit of sense to me.

From what I understand Mainstream is a double edged sword. Meaning it will get more viewers but on the down-side you'll get a lot of flak for being mainstream take Sword Art Online for example. To me it's good, but I like Accel world better though. Because in my eyes Accel world is not mainstream.

That one was pretty good but you don't really hear about it often.

I just finished marathoning 'The Devil is a Part Timer' xD Really good anime!

Although its probably considered mainstream-ish now, I don't see why Hunter x Hunter isn't more popular - in terms of story and characters, its much better than the rest of the shounens (Although I'm still a sucker for One Piece haha)

I really loved Tari Tari, I think it should've been more popular than it was

I second that. It was 10 times better then I expected it to be though I wasn't too fond of the endings romantic death.

Yeah, I heard about it on an obscure website with some guys top 10 unwatched anime and I've never heard of it anywhere else outside of searches where you specifically look for it.

I'm not sure if Hajime no Ippo is mainstream but i think it should be far more popular then many others. It has a wonderful story line with great character development, even when it comes to the enemies they show who they are, what they value and what they fight for. Not to mention the totally bad ass fights (sorry younger readers).
