I'm still in my 2 week free trial of cruncyroll, and before I commit to the monthly charges, I'd like to ask a question.
I've been experiencing lag while streaming Anime at 720p, is this normal?? (I don't really care about the 1080p in anime, as I can't tell the difference.)

Also anime just stops mid-play, now I understand this means that the connection with the server has been lost, but are crunchyroll planning on updating the player so that it can recover from a lost connection... or is this going to be permanent?

Yea I also get random pauses or lag at times but it's not often. Usually I just refresh or go back a few seconds in the video.

I've seen people complaining about it since 2013, i used to watch all CR animes on the Playstation app and it ran pretty smoothly, but whenever i try to watch it on the website it freezes out of nowhere, usually if i click on the progression bar to something like 2 seconds ago it goes back to normal, but it's pretty fucking annoying and a total mood killer

Wonder if there planning on releasing a Windows 8 app, which would stabilize the videos. I do like how it resumes close to its last playing location chofrizzy, its one of the redeeming qualities. If it never had that, then I'd of properly just given up on it by now.

I always load an episode then pause it for a little to avoid buffering and freezes.

I believe CR staff stated they planned to release a new version of the player in either Q1 or Q2 of 2014, which has obviously passed. They have not yet announced a new timeline for this update.

Cheers eyeofpain thats the sort of news I was looking for I know its only a simple problem both to fix or bypass, but I like lying down in bed while watching anime.

Tarheelram I also buffer things, but I can't tell how far videos are buffered on crunchyroll. Is it because I'm using chrome, or is it just leave one for 10minutes and then started loading the second while watching the first??

If you want videos to maintain fullscreen when going from one episode to the next, check out beardfist's unofficial Chrome extension; more details can be found at this group: /group/Beardfists_Programming_Corner.

As for the buffer, CR's player doesn't actually buffer any more than a few seconds of content due to piracy concerns. If you're experiencing significant pauses due to buffering, it's recommended you switch to a lower resolution; the default can be changed here: /acct/?action=video.

The fullscreen was never an issue.

As for the buffer, the only issue is its inconsistency. It will buffer fine even at 1080p, but at times it will struggle to even buffer 720p at a steady speed. I only have a 8mb connection, but I've looked into things draining the bandwidth and nothing is (Just so that no time is wasted, I've been a IT Technician for 7years). The issue does seem to be located on the crunchyroll side.
