Voltron was the first mecha I saw so i think it pretty much my N#1.

err just looked it up the actual V robot I first saw wasnt voltron it was Vultus V. and was released just a few years before Gundam1.

Turn A Gundam
Eureka Seven
Macross Plus
Neon Genesis Evangelion (though the remakes are definitely better than the original)
Vision of Escaflowne

Gundam(all of them,especially the most famous GW) - Not only because it's great,because it also laid the groundwork for many,many Mecha to follow,begone it,it's a whole lot more influential and culturally relevant than Evangelion
