❧Lenora Wakefield
Thoughts;
...

Lenora's gaze fell to the ground while she listened to Jin. No home to go to? Surely someone had to be looking for them... Pictures of never leaving the place and never recovering her memories flashed in Lenora's mind and she felt the slightest moisture form in her eyes. "How can you do that?" Lenora asked softly, bringing her knees to her chest and hugging them for warmth. His ability to joke even at a dire time like this made her wonder. "How can you keep on smiling? From what you've told me, bizarre things keep happening in this forest and places nearby, and anyone I meet may want to kill me, be it for supplies or for their own sick pleasure." The village seemed like the safest place to be when compared to the other places he mentioned, so Lenora considered staying her for a while.
She studied the medallion when Jin brought it out and thought about its backstory on how Jin found the item. "Maybe someone is helping you recover your memories? Your visions about the old man and the blond, could they be family?" Something else in his story caught Lenora's attention. Dojo? "You sound like you know a lot about self defense. If it isn't much trouble, can you teach me?" If I'm to make my way out of this place, Lenora thought. Learning how to fight would be a valuable skill, but I sincerely hope that I should never become as desperate as beating someone to death.
While waiting for an answer, a rumble interrupted the silence and Lenora placed a palm on her stomach. She tried ignoring it, but the hunger demanded to be felt. "S-sorry," she stuttered in a tiny voice, embarassed at the sound her body was making. "Do you have sustenance to spare, Jin?" Thinking back to when she entered the village, she had smelled bread baking somewhere.

Jin shrugs at her and felt kind of bad for making her cry, he thought about his next words very carefully.

"I smile and joke because no matter what, I know that the sun will rise tomorrow." He says.

"They could be family, but I doubt anyone is helping me. The people who live here are too oblivious to what is happening and the people who aren't are too busy trying to remember their own." He says.

He sits there for a while pondering Lenora's request for teaching, all of a sudden Jin does a backward handspring and lands silently on his feet. He walks over to Lenora and offers his hand for her to grab to pull her up.

"Maybe, but you have to give me a kiss first." He says. "As for food, yes, I have meat."

❧Lenora Wakefield
Thoughts;
Maybe I can ask him to teach me acrobatics, too.

Lenora felt that she had been asking too many questions and didn't want to bother Jin with anymore in a short period of time. She held her tongue back, resisting the urge to ask about the inhabitants of the village and decided to ask that question at a later time or figure things out for herself. She wiped away her barely formed tears and looked up at Jin.
"You seem to be a tad bit too optimistic about our situation, but I don't think that's a bad thing," Lenora stated her thoughts aloud and held Jin's outstretched hand, hoisting herself up into a standing position. In a fluid motion, she tiptoed and gave Jin a peck on the cheek, then stepped back unabashed. "There, will that do? I understand if you wanted to 'seal the deal,'" she made air quotes. "But we could have shaken hands as a display of agreement instead." She dusted the dirt off herself and bent down to pick up her hiking stick. "Meat sounds fine, thank you very much."

Jin laughs at her and nods his head.

"I was only kidding about the kiss, but thanks." He says.

He laughs at her shake hands comment and smiles.

"I'm no business man, Lenny. But since you're the only person I've really had contact with in a while, I've decided to help you out."

He reaches into his long flowing overshirt and pulls out a long fighting knife, and holds it out to Lenora.

"Here, you can take this. I.....uh.....stole it form the blacksmith here." He says. "I'll teach you how to use it, if you're really serious about it."

❧Lenora Wakefield
Thoughts;
...

With an brow arched in the slightest hint of judgement, Lenora accepted the pilfered knife and grasped it by its handle. She turned it this way and that, observing the blade and it's sharpness. "I'm sure it won't be missed, if the townspeople are as oblivious as you say they are." Unraveling the scarf from her neck, Lenora made a makeshift strap for the knife so that it rested against her hip. "I'm really grateful for all your help. Hopefully one day I can repay the kindness you've shown me...Jinny." Since he had given her a nickname, Lenora thought she should do the same, but realized the nickname she had given him sounded too feminine. "Er, nevermind..." she mumbled, concluding to herself that she would just call him "Jin." In an attempt to erase her blunder, Lenora changed the subject. "So what else are you hiding in that overcoat of yours? You remind me of a magician, pulling things out like that."

He pulls out the matching sheathe for the blade, and smiles at her as she creates the makeshift sheathe.

"This would probably help, it rests length ways across your belt so it's not as obstructive and don't worry about it. I hope you'd do the same for me if I was in your position."

He chuckles at her attempt at a nickname, smiles and crosses his arms and shrugs.

"Nothing much, really." He says, smiling as if he knew something she didn't. "Nothing much but this." He repeats.

He pulls out a small flower out of his pocket and puts it in Lenora's hair. The moment he moved his overcoat a bit, you could see what seemed to be the handle of a wakizashi poking out from behind his back, a silenced pistol under his arm, and a tanto.

"So I guess you're still pretty hungry, and you could probably use a bath, huh?" He says, he waves his hand in front of his face and laughs, nudging her with his elbow.

❧Lenora Wakefield
Thoughts;
"There’s fennel for you, and columbines.—There’s rue for you, and here’s some for me... wear your rue with a difference."
... I wonder where I've heard those words before.

Lenora paused in tying a knot and stared at the genuine sheath meant for the blade. "Oh... well, yes, thank you, this helps immensely," she took the leather covering from Jin and placed the knife there, then clipped the sheath to her belt loop. She glanced back towards Jin and blinked twice in puzzlement. She had definitely seen his hidden weapons, but decided not to bring the subject up. Yet, she wondered if Jin ever had to use them while he was stuck here, lost in a place uncharted. Lenora's thoughts were interrupted as he placed a flower in her hair, a plant she recognized as rue. "Do you really think I need more foliage in my hair?" she said in jest, and plucked the flower from her hair, then patted the withered leaves and pine needles from the messy blonde locks. She didn't throw the rue flower to the ground, however, but instead idly spun it between her forefinger and thumb. "I'm famished, actually," she admitted, but made a face at his last comment. "I smell pretty bad, don't I?" she laughed lightly, surprised at her own laughter. Maybe Jin's optimism was rubbing off on her. "A bath sounds divine. But does a place like this really have running water?"

Jin raises an eyebrow at her and nods, a goofy smile on his face,

"Sure does! In fact you're standing beside it." He jokes, referring to the river. "Don't worry, it's not like these people haven't seen a naked woman before. In fact, I see them doing it all the time, some have gotten smart and made things to catch rain water, and made a shower. I've bathed in the river as well, and I can promise I won't peek at you. Well, not a lot at least." He says.

The look on his face is obviously one of someone who was kidding, as he holds a half smile on his face.

"I am serious about the bathing in the river part, I do have some food left over from yesterday. But if you would rather have fresh, then bathe first and I can have some made by the time you've finished."

❧Lenora Wakefield
Thoughts;
... I don't suppose they have soap? Probably not.

[ Sorry for the late responses, I'm at a sleepover ]

"Ah, of course, why was I expecting something more than a river?" Lenora mumbled to herself and looked towards the body of water. It'll do though, anything to get her feeling a fresh as a daisy again. Maybe she could find a spot secluded by rocks or plants. She wasn't worried about Jin peeking, Lenora found it more plausible that she would be found by someone or something unfriendly. "If you don't mind, I think I'll get cleaned up first," Lenora stated, walking towards the water then stopping in her path to look back at Jin. "Where should I find you when I'm done?"

Jin stops her by grabbing her pack, and pulling her back.

"Where are you going? I'll show you where I'm staying, there's a calm spot in the river in front of the home. If you bathe anywhere near here you'll be swept away by the undercurrent and you'll probably drown or hit your head on the rocks below and then your memories and home won't matter."

He snaps a twig off the tree and tosses it into the water, you can clearly see it get sucked under and then resurfaces a few feet away then it's swept down stream at a surprising speed where it disappears again and doesn't reappear.

"See what I mean?" He asks. "Just come on, I'm staying at this small shack just up the river a bit. It was abandoned when I happened upon it, so I decided to stay there. It's on the opposite side of the river but still in the village. since there's a few shacks around it."

He hops onto the bridge railing and pops a squat and smiles at Lenora.

"I'm sure you're tired too. We have a few more hours of darkness before the sun rises, and you'll need some sleep. I'm pretty sleepy myself now that I think about it." He says, yawning. "Come on, now."

He hops down off the railing and crosses his arms, waiting for her.

(Oh, that explains it. XD I thought you were just taking your time.)

[ Haha, no, we were watching/reading horror stuff and I got so into it. Now we're in our sleeping bags talking about nonsense xD ]

Lenora's eyes widened at the display of the twig in the water. Even though she couldn't remember anything at all about herself, Lenora was positive she wasn't a strong enough swimmer to escape the currents. "Close call," she mumbled, staring one last time at the river before following Jin to the bridge. Honestly, Lenora, you'd definitely be dead by now if you hadn't met Jin, she scolded herself inwardly and promised herself to be more cautious. She was silent for a while as she followed Jin, before speaking suddenly and responding late to something Jin had said. "I don't want to die here," Lenora declared out of the blue. It's only been a day, but it felt like a very long one. Tomorrow seemed so far away, but Lenora knew that morning would come in a flash after she's slept.

Jin stops and turns around to look at her, with a serious look on his face.

"Nobody really wants to, we're all dropped here with naught but the clothes on our backs and the weapons we carried. Who'd want to die, remembering nothing?" He says.

Jin turns around leads her across the bridge and suddenly turns left and walks along the river, a whistling a tune that sounds like a jazz song.

"It get's easier the longer you're here." He says. "Doing what you need to to survive, even if you don't like it."

He vaults over a fallen tree, doing a front flip in the air before landing silently on his feet. He knows he did it only to show off, and it was going to be fun to have a woman around. <At least I have someone to talk to.> He thinks to himself. He smiles inwardly and looks over his shoulder at Lenora to make sure she was following. After a few minutes they reach the shack, the forest looms behind the shack and the front faces toward the water, where a lone tree stands in the water and provides shade for the house's part of the river. The water moves lazily and reflects the stars in the night sky, and a torch illuminates the front of the house and the water. Jin smiles at her and gestures to the water.

"This is it." He says.

(I see, I used to do that a ton with my really good friend. I know we're nearly grown men, but we still hung out all night and played video games. It's hard to let the past die, really. XD)

Thoughts;
That's a nice tune. I wonder if I know how to whistle.

[ I get sentimental thinking that these sleepovers might be our last ones, at least for a long time probably. I'm not good with keeping contact, so college scares me because I won't see them as often. Haha, I'm not judging. You're never too old to play video games all night ^^
Btw, last post of the night. It's getting harder to stay awake, so excuse my typos if I have any ]

Lenora nodded in agreement. "I'll take your word for it," she answered, and sincerely hoped she would be able to adapt easily into this new environment. She'll think of this whole ordeal as a game, Lenora mused. There were rules to be followed, dice to be rolled, and strategic thinking involved in order to reach the end of the boardgame.
Lenora watched Jin with amusement as they walked the forest path. His flips and whistling had put her in a good mood. They reached the shack and Lenora took in all the details. Seemed... homey, in a way, the way it was secluded from other houses and how it had a waterfront view.
"Well, you're right, the water here does look calmer," Lenora observed and walked right up to the riverbank. There was a flat rock nearby, so she sat on that and began to untie the laces of her hiking boots. She glanced over her shoulder to look at Jin. "It's very ungentlemanly to watch a lady undress. I don't mean to be rude, after all, you have been nice, but I'll be fine out here by myself. So for the time being, could I have some privacy?" Taking off her hiking boots and socks, Lenora frowned at a few blisters that had formed. She placed her scarf, swiss army knife, staff, and combat knife on the rock and proceeded to strip off her muddy clothing.

Jin waves his hand in the air as if to dismiss her and walks inside of the shack, a small light suddenly appears and after a while smoke pours out of the chimney. The sounds of him rustling around inside can be heard and a door slams and then the front door opens.

"Here, wear these." He says, laying down what looks like clothing and a bar of what's apparently home made soap. "I have to go catch dinner, so I'll be gone for a little bit."

He turns and climbs swiftly up a tree and disappears into the foliage. The leaves and branches shake as if they were blown in the wind and after a few seconds have calmed down and Jin has disappeared.

(I'll be honest with you, you'll probably lose them and make new ones. After high school everyone went in their own direction, and I've only kept contact with two of them, and my closest friend just moved back to ND because there's no work here. I'm about to start trade school next year too, so I'll be pretty busy. Okay, that's great, lol. I was about to crash but I decided to give you 10 more minutes to respond.)

Thoughts;
Homemade soap? Is there anything this man can't do?

[ Very true, it even started happening as early as freshmen year when I didn't have classes with friends that have been with me since elementary school and we just drifted apart. Social media sites don't really help keeping in contact either :/ But it always nice to meet people with similar interests, hopefully I'll meet people in college to go to conventions with xD ]

Lenora thanked him and watched him disappear into the trees, before becoming occupied with her own business. She undressed completely and walked into the refreshingly cool water with the bar of soap in one hand and the combat knife in the other, which she decided to take as precaution. Lenora waded to the tree and found a hollow knot in the tree, where she placed the knife. She scrubbed herself with soapy suds (lilacs? it smells like lilacs.) and ran her fingers through her hair to get out most of the tangles.
She finished bathing without incident and went back to shore to put on the clothes Jin had left for her to wear. The long-sleeved shirt and pants were a bit baggy, but it was nice to have on clean clothes. Speaking of which... Lenora looked at her dirty bundle of clothes. Might as do some laundry, Lenora thought and soaked her clothes in the water. She used the same lilac-smelling soap on the clothes and attempted to whistle the tune Jin was whistling as she worked. After she hung her clothes on a low hanging branch to dry, Lenora took her belongings and went inside the shack. A warm fire greeted her, and Lenora sat with her back facing the flames and waited for Jin to come back.
