Id like to address the concern that most premium members might have with the recent updates to the site.

On Saturday the site uploaded the new episode of SAO. Im not saying thats a bad thing but I clearly remember there was a time when certain shows would be unavailable ( for a certain period of time ) to non paying free users.

Is it still like this? or has that been broken because no there are ads?

It just sucks as a premium member to have to deal with the site breaking and going down when watching shows. We should have priority iv been paying for over 3 years now for Anime and id like to be able to watch stuff with out the site crashing constantly and forcing me to wait to enjoy what I pay for.

This might only be an issue for me but i just find it frustrating. Crunchyroll never used to have this problem in the past. Not that I can remember.

Anyone else notice this type of stuff happening?

Yeah, I noticed that too. Probably just some network hiccups. For me sometimes the page (as in Crunchyroll) is unavailable every now and again, but other than that and a few video stutters on 1080p, everything is fine.

Yeah I think its an overload of people trying to connect and watch the same thing. Like SAO Saturday. If they changed it back to when free users would have to wait a week to watch Im pretty sure they would not have this problem.

Just upsetting is all as its been happening alot the last month.

I just think premium users should not have to deal with the free users ruining our payed time.

Free accounts still have to wait, I'm just thinking there was a massive influx of "preview accounts" (free trial) with the release of SAO2.

And to be fair a lot of the problems can be attributed to the fact that the majority of Crunchyroll's traffic follows the same route as Netflix. Anything during prime time can be an exercise in frustration.

You forget that Crunchyroll was attending and presenting at Anime Expo, along with being "featured" on the front page of the App Store for Itunes.

This. Also key Announcements were finally made Clear about what new "Goodies" We have on the way, which even though it's simply News, well...the fact is that is simply WASN'T "normal News", it was News disseminating Information many had longed to hear about whether or whether not Our favorite Animes and Manga were to be picked up....Oh Yeah, One more thing, one more thing....nothing TOO major...We ONLY FOUND OUT THAT OUR WEEKENDS this Summer are going to be ABSOLUTELY BEASTLY! Don't forget! That very Day along with "Sword Art Online Dos", the classic reminding others what "Classic" Anime actually IS, made a PUNISHING RETURN to the Screen! "Sailor Moon Crystal" premiered IT'S Episode #1 that Saturday Morning; hearkening back to the Days many can remember watching the Original "Sailor Moon" early on their Saturday Mornings while Out of School for the Weekend. Not only is the Show a hit because of it's Personas, but that there were FEW other Saturday Morning cartoons at that time that not only had a badass sexy Chick as Your lead, but that the ACTION provided inherently throughout the Show was literally done so wonderfully to the point where; and it might as well have been a "Deathblow" to many other Weekend Cartoon competitors, Kids starting calling all of the old Shows who were but reruns at that stage anyhow no good. Packaged from Japan, all drawn from the imaginations of a petite Writer and Screenplay, Naoko Takeuchi. The magic the Original "Sailor Moon" brought to Us all, is BACK and planning to show it's Legs, both figuratively and ~hopefully~ literally to an ADORING PUBLIC. On Japan's form of YouTube, "Nico Nico Douga" the NEW "S.M. Crystal" receives millions of views and Comments in but 2 Days. Here on Crunchyroll, it came on before "Sword Art II" that Morning. Just think of the tons of Users who knew the time of the Simulcasting through other means. Inactive Accounts that have sat there like so since the End of the LAST Show, We the Fan are drooling over and We're going to represent Crunchyroll this Morning by, at least those fortunate to have Premiums or Guest Passes, enjoying a little bit of Everything.

And then...for those patiently waiting to hear for their favorite Manga, recently released Anime "Akame ga Kill!" Fans knew it was coming, but was all too happy to join in the Celebration when the popular recent Manga release turned Anime was officially announced by Our Site's finest, along with many more Items for announce In an instant, in the Anime World, the BIRTH of the "WARRIOR*WEEKEND"...Saturday Mornings offering the newest "Sailor Moon: Crystal", and the rabidly popular "Sword Art Online II" and the following Day, "Akame ga Kill!" along with New "One Piece" and many more of all of Our favorites. Now take ALL that, and add "Break-dancing for Pocky" out at the Con, DJ Syntax providing wonderful Spinnage all throughout. It was a wonderful Weekend. New News, loads of Users taking the 2 Week free deal, a GREAT number of Users resurfacing as they know what time all their particular awaited Shows begin, and the best of it all...the "Community's Hype", the great sense of being Neighbors and experiencing and living through this wonderful time with those just like Ourselves; We're from all walks of Life...Different races, Creeds, and Genders. Though when it comes to One or more related Issues, We might as well be Family. One big Animanga Family!

I've actually had consistent problems connecting to crunchyroll. I generally watch anime on my Xbox and I've found that crunchyroll likes to disconnect on certian shows. Last season I kept up with 3 shows on crunchyroll. Those were Brynhildr in the darkness, no game no life and chaika the coffin princess. Brynhildr always worked fine. No game no life would randomly disconnect in the middle of a video if I watched it within about an hour of release and Chaika would consistently not work until a couple of hours after release.

I was used to it by the time SAO came out. I refreshed the page on both my laptop and my xbox until I could finally watch it on my xbox. Although I'm a paying member, I'm not too keen on the idea of resticting the ability of the free members. What crunchyroll needs to do is upgrade their servers. It's clear that the current servers are not fit for the amount of users we have on this site. While I'd prefer that the money is spent on licensing shows in more countries - somthing must be done about it.

What happened on saturday im hoping was just a one off, the websites servers were probably just over flowed, stretched to far, the live stream mixed with the release of SAO2 and the obvious influx of those who went to watch that the moment it was available probably just overloaded the website and things like this happen a lot all over the internet, to many people and the servers will go down.

its like trying to make a phone call or get a text through the moment of new years, it can take awhile.

saturday aside, as a paying member i can completely agree that the way videos can be playing fine and then suddenly stop for no reason at all is very frustrating, i always have to reload the page before it will play again and it doesn't always continue from where it left off either and sometimes doesn't let me skip ahead to said point either, less frequent are the times where i have to reload a page multiple times before it will play, this can happen at any time be it a new episode i've just gone to watch for the first time, or one i've been watching anf had to reload the page for to get it to play again.

either way i hope crunchyroll picks up on these problems and they try to fix them up.

Well, it was inconvenient for me when the site went down. I work two full-time jobs and have a very limited window of viewing time available. Still, it's great to see CR generate that type of interest--hopefully, it will result in more new paying members and whatever benefits (stronger bargaining position, more access, more new shows) might arise from gaining new members. I was pretty bummed at the time, but I understand.

Wait until this Saturday to probably see hell.

Yes CR was at AX over the last weekend so that didn't help.

But this Saturday all the shows that aired that crashed CR will air again (except Sailor Moon I think since I think that was every 2 weeks) BUT not only will the new episode air for premium, the free users will get the first episode.

I like others am hoping that it was just a slight problem since CR was at AX they had the live-stream, they were announcing news on social sites (bringing people to the site from there to read the news), and they had the premiere of a few of the big shows that were wanted this season, as well as the new episodes of continuing shows.

Of course... I use my Roku to watch videos, so... as long as CR doesn't completely crash, I am usually fine.

Sailor Moon prolly had a much bigger draw than SAO...

Internet traffic can overwhelm *any* amount of server resources at times. It's really irritating when people complain and act all entitled like they deserve special royal treatment. Be happy that so many other people are into anime that it actually broke the internets! Go outside, spend some time with your family and friends and pets... or whatever. =P

really?

not that i doubt SM's popularity but it aired much earlier than SAO, and the site was fine during that time too. It was when SAO was released that everything went haywire.

except not everybody has family, friends, or pets. Well going outside is a good suggestion. er well unless you live where i live and it's blazing hot outside and humidity's so thick that you can't breathe... i reckon some of us are just out of luck.

yeah, I've experienced it, i'm not mad though.

I've discovered my Top 3 anime on Crunchyroll... (Flowers of Evil, Cuticle Detective Inaba and Hunter x Hunter). So I love them <3 for bringing me my type of shows...
