Why do they call it a building? It looks like they're finished. Why isn't it a built?

That is the most interesting thing I've read all day.
I don't know why the word is like that. It is weird.

Holy crow...I honestly never thought about that before this very moment. Maybe the first person/people to finish building one were so tired after building it they didn't feel like coming up with a new name for this brand new thing and were all like "Screw it! We spent so long building this thing we'll just call it a "building" and be done with it! Now let's go inside!". And for the next however many thousands of years nobody ever questioned why buildings were called buildings.

Or maybe it's a just a government conspiracy.

Cause it is both a noun and a verb, depending on it's use.

Because English doesn't need to make sense..

You know, I was going to consider this thought of yours, but then I was distracted by your avatar of Hōsei Yamasaki from Gaki no Tsukai and spent that time I could have used considering that thought looking up an English translation of one of their Batsu specials instead. You might not have blown my mind, but now I'm going to be entertained for the rest of my night. So...thanks?
