Please turn these off, you can leave the thumbs up enabled if you want, or even turn the thumbs-down after the shows have aired or something. All this is doing is encouraging the trolls to go through and down-rep everyone's comments for no reason.

There have been shows where people have gotten -13 because they said nothing but they liked the show. I believe if the -thumbs were turned off this would stop, since there would be nothing for them to do.

I have gotten -40 downvotes within 20 seconds lol. Ah well....They really should turn that downvote button off.

Is it really that much of a problem? All the shows I've watched over the years on crunchyroll, the only time I've seen immense down votes on something is either the inevitable "First" post, general trolling/hate/flame, or from someone that clearly had no idea what was going on in the show...

I would imagine that for the most part, the only reason we don't see a flood of downvoted comments on most videos is the countermeasures taken by individual users to upvote things that have been downvoted that they see as undeserving of the downvotes.

As for the system itself, it would be much better if the comments were ordered based on number of responses rather than a number of people clicking a button to indicate their agreement or disagreement. The problem with the current system is that you cannot distinguish between someone actually disagreeing with a comment and someone just pushing the button to knock the comment down. Of course, the same can be true of the thumbs up, since how can you tell if someone isn't just trying to shove their own comments up? Obviously, that requires a bit more work than just downvoting all the comments, but the potential is there. The main issue of switching over to a system of response based rankings is it would require CR to heavily moderate the comments to prevent noncontent and spam from pushing comments up top.

I would disagree on just removing the downvote function, though. If you can like something without making a response or comment of your own, you certainly shouldn't be restricted from disliking it in the same manner.

Also, on the whole, the best way to deal with the trolls is for the comment section to not react to them. Then, less of them will bother.

Would really like to see the downvote button gone. People can post a comment if they disagree and then others can just upvote whichever they agree with.
