Wouldn't bring it up unless I know the person I'm talking to likes anime too. I don't see the point -- if they don't watch anime, nothing I say about anime would really make sense to them.

I pretty much talk about it with my friends who are otakus. Normally, I maintain my enthusiasm for anime/gaming until someone mentions it. Just don't talk about it to random people who don't know about anime, especially out of the blue.

I used to be completely hush-hush about my love for anime. Only my closest friends knew I watched it, and even then they weren't completely aware of how much of it I watched. I kept my DVDs and mangas out for display, but never bought posters, figures, cosplay items, t-shirts, etc. But now that I've graduated high school and gained some confidence, I really don't care who knows. I'm very open about it, and everyone seems pretty accepting, even if they don't care for anime themselves.

Honestly? Most of my acquaintances, friends, and co-workers who know just kind of roll their eyes at me. They seem to think it's just one of my quirks. They don't make a mockery of it or like me any less.

I'm an open book about it. But I'm usually shut down all the time because no one cares. I only know one person offline who I can discuss anime with, but even then it'd have to be online because I rarely see him anymore.

I don't talk about it anymore. I said I like anime once and people only gave me weird looks. Plus they told me to ''get a life''. Sigh

I don't usually bring up the topic much unless the other person brings it up first or I catch browsing anime-related things on their phones. My offline friends are all into anime, but we all have somewhat similar and different tastes.

I dont hide i like anime. I won't watch it in public places though because I am always afraid the anime will have one of those censor required scenes or be lolicon. Even anime that don't seem to be like that always seem to throw in a fanservice episode or a few scenes. I dont need people seeing that and getting the wrong idea. Otherwise it is the same as watching a superman cartoon but in japanese hero style. Granted I don't have to worry about adult scenes in cartoons lol.

Depending on who I'm around at the time, I can be extremely vocal about it, or to a very minimum, only talking about it if it comes up. If it's my friends and people that I know, depending on how close they are to me, and whether they know about my anime-love, I can talk about it for a long, long time. But if they don't want to hear it, then I of course would naturally not bother them with it.

However, I still wear plenty of anime merch in public anyways, so I don't hide it. It's not something to be ashamed of!
...but then again, this might be the reason I have a limited social life.

I'll occasionally make a reference to an anime if I'm with someone who watches it, but for the most part I try not to be "that guy" who tries to force anime on other people.

If I see someone else who is watching an anime in public or something, i'll walk up to them and be like dude WTF. Why no you watch it with me? :D

No, but seriously. I tend to keep it to myself but I love talking about anime and related topics if it's someone else who appreciates the medium, not the whole JAPANESE culture IS MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN AMERICAN CULTURE weebos, but as a respect for amazing story telling that anime has in it's tools to tell a story over western mediums. Ironically, I hate people who watch anime in public, espeically anime that's a little bit borderline about what's acceptable here in the states.

My family thinks im weird for it, especially my dad (he's one of those old-fashioned dads), but I've got them to sit time a few times and watch some amazing anime that anyone can relate to. Like Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (sad story), Steins;Gate, and Potemayo (great family comedy to watch)

I used to be very private about the fact that I watched anime and read manga,
but now I'm much more open about it.

Personally I used think it was better to keep it to myself because I could avoid
the funny looks and often rather cruel comments about anime and the stereotypes of who watches it.

These days if it comes up in a conversation I'll tell just about anyone that
I watch it without hesitation, but I never bring it up on my own or use any references or
even purchase any kind of anime merchandise.

My family for example knows that I watch anime but they have no idea how deep the obsession goes... haha.
