Anyone else going to watch this event? I look forward to it every year. What fighting game will you be watching? For me it is going to be King of Fighters, Super Smash Brothers Melee, and Blaze Blue. Anyone actually there to play?

Here is the line up of games

Here is the schedule for the weekend

A little sad to see that there is no Skull Girls or Persona 4 Arena, but hey it will be a fun event to watch. Also going to be looking out for the coupon codes for Arcade Sticks since I am in the need for some new ones.

I generally only watch the finals later when they're on youtube or something. With no persona, I'll prolly only watch UMVC3 and SSBM, maybe tekken.

There were so many upsets in Ultra Street Fighter IV it's mind boggling.

Of the previous Street Fighter IV champions --- Daigo Umehara (2009, 2010), Fuudo (2011), Infiltration (2012), and Xian (2013) --- only Fuudo has made it to top 8 where he'll be facing Snake Eyez's super dangerous Zangief so he could very well be eliminated too.

There's a whole slew of really strong players who were expected to either go far or could have won it all as well who were sent packing early: Tokido (runner up last year and a perennial top 8 finisher in multiple games), Justin Wong, PR Balrog, Kazunoko (possibly the best Yun player on the planet), Mago (one of the best Fei Longs), etc.

Grand Finals is going to be nuts!

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom's top 8 is quite stacked too. I'm surprised to see Marn make it this far as he has not been taking any fighting games seriously over the last 2 years, but I guess his placing speaks of his talent. I'm rooting for Justin Wong to take UMVC3 this year.

Had a blast watching the grand finals for bbcp as that is my main game. Congratz to Garireo and ggs to Dogura. Learned alot from Dogura's Azrael as Azrael is my main. Evo has been great !

Aw man, I'm kind of sad to see the lack of posts in this thread.

Anyway, I couldn't really catch most of Evo this year, but i managed to at least catch BlazBlue top 8, UMvC3 top 8 and Ultra top 8. BlazBlue was incredibly emotional and I'm glad at least one American player got top 8 (Seattle, yoooo!). I'm also happy that Justin took UMvC3 and proved that you don't need top tiers to be the best. Ultra was.. I don't know. I don't like Rose.

I'm going to start playing more and going out to more events to get some good practice on and I'm definitely going to Evo next year.
