WOW...I am pretty much super excited for the rest of the adaptation now...since I did find it hard that Sail Moon will be mature and dark(darker?) within this new series. Hopefully I am not let down. Also great read!

This was a Heckuva' read! Highly interesting, and informative! An absolute Goldmine of Sailor Moon knowledge here. Thank You for this, Sangria!

No problem, I had fun writing it. After all, this is one of my favorite series ever.

Oh Yes, definitely! Is the new Episode tomorrow? Or is it every 2 Weeks?

Thanks for confirming that it's going to follow the manga!
I enjoyed reading the manga especially the dark and mature premise.
Can't wait!

This was pretty good. It doesn't answer all the questions I have like
Of course only the show itself can answer a question like that so am super excited to see exactly how closely they follow the manga.

Although I don't really think I have a big place in this discussion ...
I've never seen the original Sailor Moon anime. I didn't watch it as a child, I don't have those nostalgia goggles on. I also have never read the manga. Between the two the manga has always been a more appealing option for me since I tend to turn my nose up at 200+ episode series. So personally ... I'm really, really excited to hear that this is an anime adaptation of the manga and not the original anime. I'm really excited, based off the first episode, to be seeing the original story's content as opposed to (as I have read here) the inaccurate bastardization that apparently happened in the original.

(Accuracy is not always a good thing. The first anime gave the villains the screen time that the manga did not permit, for example.)

Informative post, Sangria. Thank you for taking the time to fill in the folks who aren't old hands at this like us.

The difference in Minako's personality in the first series is actually kind of a weird mix of bits from the original manga, a decent amount from her own manga (Codename: Sailor V, the first few chapters of which were actually the first Sailor Moon media to be made and published, and which is for the most part much sillier and wackier than the main Sailor Moon manga) and of course some of the unique fleshing out the series did with everyone.

Usagi herself for example, has a couple of those "bi-curious" moments, though she only loves Mamoru.

Being a huge fan of the manga, I am hoping that we end up with more seasons of this version; the later parts of the manga are by far my favorite, especially a certain chapter in the fourth arc. I also really, really hope we finally get a Codename: Sailor V adaptation but that might be a bit much to ask for.

Thank you so much for this. It gets hella annoying when people assume it's a remake of the original anime. Like girl, take off those nostalgia goggles and watch the damn thing. You're not supposed to compare SMC to original SM because SMC is it's own thing.
