If there were legal troubles, you can bet your ass ANN would cover the news.

As others have said, I have only heard of it ending soon. No legal problems.

I believe I also heard it is being released state side here soon as well. But I can't remember and am far too tired atm to go searching for the news.

There were issues with it back when it was a one-shot, I believe, and some challenges when it started serialization, but those are in the past. Also, three more volumes is NOT ending SOON. That would mean it is about at the half-way point of the story. I think it is a good thing that the author has a plan for how long it is going and when it will end. That means it is more thought out than many of the weekly manga out there, which seem to drag on and have tons of useless, filler chapters that don't progress the plot. (I'm looking at you Nisekoi!)

One more volume's come out since the "three more volume" announcement. We're probably looking at fifteen more chapters. Given the last couple installments, the story looks like it's about to start a final arc.

I doubt it's due to legal troubles. Since the author announced the ending so far ahead of time, it's likely that they simply had a set story they wanted to tell and didn't have an interest in stretching it out longer than necessary.

LOL couldnt agree more on Nisekoi, sort of surprised that it's serialized on Shounen Weekly jump. On the topic at hand, I'm happy and sad that Koe no katachi is ending in three volumes even though it's for the best. It's a very deep and content rich manga with great character development and social perception. I mean my God that first one shot at the end "can we be friends" - first time I've learned a bit of sign language and the whole communication metaphor is great too.

I agree. We are probably on the final arc now. Actually, someone posted that Volume 5 comes out in August (2014, for those reading this thread in the future... LOL), so we may be even closer to the end than I had thought.

[To be fair, I really do like Nisekoi... I just get frustrated with it. LOL]

I know what you mean! I really think this manga is a masterpiece.

Does anybody know where volumes 3 and 4 cut off? If I had to guess, I would say Volume 3 should end with Chapter 23, based on what Shoko says at the end of it. Volume 4 I would cut at around chapter 31 or maybe 34. Then the obvious cut off for Volume 5 is Chapter 42.

Oh, BTW... I was wondering what the text at the end of chapter 42 meant: "To be continued with "Shoko Nishimiya's story". I would think that would be the title of the next chapter, but it isn't. Is that an extra chapter we don't have? Maybe one that will only be in Volume 5?

It would be hard to think it'd be ending because of legal problems. The only group/association I would see causing a ruckus is helping the author- I think it's called the Japan Association for the Deaf or something like that. Sad to hear it has a ending approaching but it's a wonderful story.

Can't say I completely agree on the Nisekoi thing, some fillers are fun. And Wolfe up there is still waiting for a certain ending :D.

Yeah, and the post you quoted was 17 days old... But chapter 47 is out already. CHapter 42 being a good cutoff for volume 5 was a content based comment.

It isn't ending because of legal problems. The legal problems it had were all before it got serialized. It is ending because they announced how many volumes it would be about half a year ago and it is just about there.
