Ever come across an Anime you watched in English Sub and then found out it later received a dub so you decided to check it out? Well, I just did. I stumbled upon the English Dub for Kill La Kill and I can honestly say they got really lazy. Apparently the name "Senketsu" was too hard/long for them so they simply shortened it to Senkets. The Voices are horrible as well. This is one of those anime that was better left untouched.

Anyway, what are some bad english dubs you've come across?

You think that's bad? You've never seen the dub for revolutionary girl utena. It's pretty much a legendary fail how bad it is.

I think most dubs for slice of life animes are ridiculous. Mainly because they try to make all the girls sound like fairy princesses from a kid's cartoon.

I dunno what constitutes a "good" dub or "bad" dub, per se. Most of the time, I'm fine with dubs, if I watch them first. Like, I can't watch Yu Yu Hakusho or Rurouni Kenshin subbed, because the English dub voices are ingrained into my head. Same with subs that I come across the first time. The only dubs I would say are god awful are one picked up by 4Kids, and that's really only because the English dubs aren't geared towards my age, anyway.

I will say that the breathing and screaming in Japanese dub/English sub are a lot easier to ignore than when they breathe and scream in the English dubs. Sometimes it just sounds so weird, like the VA is having an orgasm or something, it makes unintentionally funny scenes.

I agree with this, to an extent. Especially with the "breathing/yelling" bit above. Also, some jokes in Japanese are harder to bring across in English.

I'm not a dub hater because I sometimes watch dubs, but Is This A Zombie? had an awful dub and I only liked the MC's voice. Also Mirai Nikki had a bad dub... Yuki's voice was really good while Yuno sounded like she's 35... :\

How dare you hate something containing the great Cherami Leigh!

I kid, I kid. I have an odd affinity for Cherami Leigh, though.

While I do disagree with some of the VA's chosen for the Kill la Kill dub, I'd like to think that the Elite 4's VA's were well chosen. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that the U in Senketsu is supposed to be silent, or at the least, pronounced softly.

Most english dubs are horrible. Sounds like they're so damn lazy, like they really don't want to be in that job.

For people who say stuff like:
"I don't want to sit and stare at the text at the bottom", "Want to watch the animations", blablabla.
Learn to read, faster.
Learn some japanese. I know a bit now, enough to not have to sit and stare at the subs or not at all sometimes XD

Kanokon dub...chizurus dubbed voice will make your ears bleed.

As for kill la kill the only voice that seem to really work was Nonon, the dub actress nailed it.

As has been hinted at, this topic comes up fairly often and we already have a few variations on the theme. I think the following, quite venerable, and recently posted to, may suit. Please post there, since I'm closing this as a duplicate.
