ep 1

My seasonal dosage of battle harem.

Diggin' the ED, the OST as well. The MC is pretty cool, but other than him, the other's characters didn't really catch my attention. Well, Lecty did remind me of Tomonori from Kore wa Zombie Desu ka, so I'll give her props.

Really there were so many tired cliche tropes on this that its an unintentional parody. Ill give it another episode maybe.

All three are dull and generic so far but she stands out the most.

It's annoying when they all go 'traitor' on him when we don't even know why he is called that.

Girl running late crashes into guy, drops jam in his crotch and calls HIM a pervert; guy washes off pants in sink, stupid self-obsessed goddess (self-proclaimed) calls him pervert; guy accidentally walks into the wrong bathroom, third stupid girl assumes he is a pervert. It is no wonder these three are such failures - they don't even listen and have zero thought capacity.

Girls love to gossip.

Episode 1

Best thing about this show so far is the MC, he's pretty entertaining actually and I like that he's a smart ass. Hopefully he stays that way. Also it's interesting that all the girls are horrible wizards and that he's their official instructor.

Other than that, there's not much else to say. This type of setting has been dozens of times before. Would it really kill some of these authors/writers to make a fantasy-action harem that's out of high school!?!?

Also I didn't see the romance tag anywhere on MAL: Not on the anime page or LN/manga page..... no in-your-face romance? I find that hard to believe. Must be a mistake.

And the OST and animation were actually decent.

Episode 1

Things don't start out on the right foot for Kanata being assigned to teach a squad that does nothing but fail. And becoming an accidental pervert in front of his students with the old jam on crotch stuff just does nothing but make a mess of things. But the setup is pretty interesting here with everybody living in the sky and fighting armored bugs to take back their planet someday. Anyway, I hope that things turn around moving forward seeing that branding him a traitor is one thing, but making him a pervert on top of that is just an unnecessary thing to do.

The pervert thing actually pisses me off, and may stop me from watching entirely. Cause see.. he ISN'T, its just yet another "girls do something, get embarrassed, and somehow the guy minding his own business is a pervert" thing, which is tiresome and overdone.

Yeah. I've gotten tired of that too. I'll still give it a few episodes and see where it goes.

Well considering how much it's been abused over the last years. It's hardly surprising. You can only repeat it so much before people get sick of it.

I wonder what people in Japan think of that. Most westerners find it annoying, but who knows, maybe the Japs like that overused shit

Episode 1

First of all this anime is mixed between Bladedance, World Break aria, Unlimited Fanfer and strike witch's all into one you would think it would be good but wrong. the first episode starts with our MC fighting a army of beetles to buy his friends time to retreat u would think this guy is a hero for doing something like that but instead is called a traitor wrf? next we are introudece to 3 girls who are the loser's of the whole academy and the MC is put as there instructor but before that he meet each of them in a situation that they call him a pervert now. The first episode was just horrible in everything not even a character that i found to like no best girl or nothing just a horrible start.

Hard to say. Stuff like this tends to be just a sort of cheap advert for a light novel to score in some more sales. I mean someone has to like all this stuff. But considering that they're not throwing that much money into it. Well it's more catering to a subset of consumers with erm.. less particular tastes i guess you could call it.

At least there's only one of these this summer.

Well, out of all the (non-ecchi) high school battle harems adapted from Light Novels, only Infinite Stratos became a huge success (in terms of BR and DVD sales). Comparable recent ones would be Unlimited Fafnir, Aria World Break, Absolute Duo, and Inou-Battle, which all sold poorly (under 2,000 per BR/DVD volume). As you can see, it is only popular within a small niche, even in Japan. Personally, I don't dislike high school battle harems, but that's just me.

Still even as LN promotion, it's hard to believe that people would even want to read this type of stuff! It's hard enough to watch! Unless maybe the source material is a lot better? (which could definitely be the case)

This type of stuff is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I'd still like better equipped harem stories, who wouldn't? Just, I would never buy a BD or LN of this. The far as I'd go to supporting it is watching it on a legal site like CR.

But you also have to take into account the LN sales when the anime is airing/finished airing. When World Breaks anime was finished up the LN sales went ballistic and shot up by a significant margin. So in that sense, it was a big success and we'll probably see a second season of it.

So by judging by LN figures, there's a big crowd that like these type of stories it seems.

Well sounds like i'll have to draw on my literary history lessons. But it's not uncommon to see a lot of people just writing the same stuff more or less if something is deemed popular enough. Tends to operate a bit in waves.

I mean one that springs to mind is Robinson Crusoe. After that first book dozens of books running on the same theme were written, hell back in those time when copyright wasn't a thing there'd be plenty of sequels. War of the Worlds was itself part of another such wave, but focused about Great britain being invaded. Usually by the Germans though, the one with the aliens just got remembered better.

or you can look at indie game developers. most of what they're doing is the same thing. Survival games or something similar. Not necessarily all the most popular things. But stuff they can probably suss out reasonably well enough on their own and then make their own additions to it.

Most of the "creatives" tend not to be that creative. And the action harem genre seems to be where it's struck at the moment.

IE one thing really stands out and makes a big splash. A lot of people go "i can do that" and then it just sort of keeps at it until profits dry up.

And usually the trappings will change. But the core "mechanics" generally will. Meaning tropes will get heavily over-used in most cases.

So until something makes a big splash again. Either in a new genre or maybe a wry deconstruction of this genre. We'll probably have to suffer a lot more of this.

Sure more variation and better use of things would be better. But those things tend to be the exceptions rather than the norm in most cases.

Before we label this show BladeDance of 2015, let's just wait it out. I'll just say that having a strong MC like this guy is a nice touch to this show, and though the other characters are a bit flat starting out, it seems like he's gonna whip them into top shape. But seriously, dude walks around without pants, gets called a pervert a bunch of times and just walks off. Fantastic.

Now, is there more to this plot? No idea. Will be interesting to see. I'll be watching more for the MC right now.

Wow, this week's episode was dull.

Misora is annoying as hell while we barely get any plot development. Instead, we get some character focus (which is hardly characterization) since it only focused on their teamwork; Misora lacked on this anyways. I hope the show improves.
