The dreaded change not many like has hit Crunchyroll. I'm usually okay with change if there is addition to something not advertising your top 5 shows and removing a lot of the shows on the simulcast front page. My feedback is revert this change it is horrid. I will give pros and cons of this change.

Pro

- This increases advertising for the top 5 shows on the site probably increasing views for those series which is probably in benefit of the site.

Cons

- A lot of the simulcast series are missing from the front page (12/50 of the current simulcasts are being shown). Most of which that are shown make me wish for the next item.
- Still no option to remove certain series from the front page. (Can you not add some type of customization? I know it's possible and easy as I have programmed customization on several sites. May require lots of code changes if the site was coded in blocks instead of modular.)
- No convenient way to see all shows of interest unless you search for them like you can set http://www.crunchyroll.com/videos/anime/updated as the CR page you visit, but then you miss news, etc.

I don't like the featured shows being at the top, now I have to scroll down to see what's playing today. The news should always be on top, that's the point of having current news. It'd be nice if they put things into panels that we could arrange ourselves, but that's not likely to happen any time soon.
I think they should really move the featured shows back down at the very least. I'm sure there are many people other than myself that don't care too much about what's most popular and featured.

Personally, I don't think this change really adds anything or will make much difference. It seems unnecessary and unwanted. I think if they wanted to change anything they should get rid of, or at least move the random show episode listing at the top. Showing an image of the final episode in a series I've never cared about hasn't ever done anything to make me want to watch it.

I would at least like an option to go back to the old version. When this was talked about before and screenshots of it were posted it didn't look like a big deal. Now that I am seeing it for myself...I really don't like it at all. I didn't know that it pushed the news down along with everything else and the news is one of the main reasons I come here aside from forums, also being pushed down, and as someone who knows the site and knows about the shows I have no need for this change. Keep it if you must but please let us have the option of going back to the old version.

News on top looks very cool and attractive because it shows that the site isn't one dimensional as crunchyroll being just a show site. If this is to go on, the air time for the news will be just bogged down and eventually forgotten.

If the shows on top is the priority, then the front page should just emulate Netflix because there where the priority seems to be emphasizing.

The simulcast section on the front page was the main way I use to navigate to new episodes (alongside Coming Soon/Now Showing) so it's obvious that I dislike the new layout.

The /videos/anime/updated page will list series as they become available.

I'm aware of all other pages, that one doesn't have direct links to new episodes so it's not that useful for me. Even after the change the homepage is still the most useful page because of the Coming Soon/Now showing and All-New Anime sections, it's just more of a hassle (especially if I want to check on the comments of a series that aired a few days ago).

I also find the featured shows section to be rather redundant since the shows are at the top of the simulcast section too...

I find the previous layout much more aesthetically pleasing. In other words;

Please Change It Back.

BTW. What are the odds they change it back? I find that most sites/companies never change anything back even if there are extensive complaints from users.

I suppose you're someone who uses their queue for something other than just simulcasts? It just takes a click on the down indicator to open the episode bar when you're in there, so the whole series is fairly available without having to go to the show page...

Personally, I sort my queue in (reverse) release order going down, and then after I watch everything scheduled from that day, I go to the bottom and bounce the next day to the top. Once you navigate to the bottom, you don't even have to move the mouse after each pop, just keep clicking the left arrow because the show just above rotates down as you pop the last one up. I used to keep it in alpha order because of an ingrained sense of "how things should be", but once someone pointed out having it in airing order, it was like a minor epiphany.

Having it ordered that way also lets me know what's coming up next, and even how soon, because the next showtime is updated there as soon as they place the "coming soon" black boxes.

I have site news alerts and thread subscriptions via beardfists CR extension (for Chrome) and RSS notifies me within 5-10 minutes of when a new show comes up. I hardly ever go to the front page anymore, except at the beginning of each cour to establish my queue order for the first time.

YMMV, of course...

Apart from what I had said when this new layout was being tested among users, today I rememberd a new annoyance it brings: the homepage simulcasts section was one of the few places (if not the only one) that was not filtered by language.

Other pages (such as this one and the queue) only display shows that are subtitled in the language I'm viewing the site in. As I usually browse Crunchyroll in Portuguese, the homepage was pretty much my only way to access Barakamon, Shounen Hollywood, etc. (which don't have Portuguese subs) without having to change the site to English and then switch it back to Portuguese afterwards. The way it is now (only 12 series appear in that section) makes almost all these shows practically invisible for the average user who's not viewing CR in either Spanish, French or German.

Not to mention the triply redundant show promotion (carousel, simulcasts and featured shows) and the obscuring of the news section unless I scroll down.

I don't use the queue at all since it's an extra click. Everything I want is already on the homepage (this includes stuff like updated forum threads) and I know the exact times of all simulcasts off the top of my head. Even after the layout change it still is there for a limited time, so the homepage is still the best for me. I would only use the queue if it was included on the homepage, but even then it would be pretty much the same as the old simulcast section since I watch almost everything.

The new layout pushes down the sections I am most interested in viewing (the news, simulcasts, and daily deals). I would much rather revert to the old layout, or better yet, allow the users to customize their own layouts.

I dislike the new layout as well. I visit CR mostly for the news and forums. I rarely watch a show on the PC, I binge on my 360 when I get home. And I'm in with SolarPumpkin with his/her idea. (sorry I have no clue what your gender is)
