I'll rewatch this just for the music alone. Kenji Kawai ftw! Though I still haven't seen the 2010 reproduction, so maybe I'll do that first.

I'm going to assume this was intended to be open to anyone. Saber, Rider, and Rin with honorable mention going to Shirou (mostly cause males are a dime a dozen in these types of series, the females in this case stand out more xD)

I love the openings for the original series, can't really remember past that though (musically anyway).

How can I hate this when it's what introduced me to the series in the first place?

It's not perfect, but I still like to go back and watch it occasionally.

I dunno, since I'm sure if I heard it in context of the show it'd spark some memory cells but by name I don't remember it. Keep in mind my memory is horrible xD The main reason I remember liking the opening is because Ideal White made me want to go back and look up the old series OP.

Yeah, the opening was what introduced me to the series. I mean, that part with Saber looking out to the field with the rising sun with the bridge of Disillusion playing was what got me. It was too pretty to not check out!

The annoying ones for me are the one that either a) immediately dismiss your opinion if you mention liking the Deen version and/or b) try to use the 'canon' concept as their reasoning. The prior because liking a series has no bearing on your overall knowledge of the series, and the later because a) its not correct and b) cause canon shifts over time (not to mention this can be considered a different take/iteration on the story).

I forget where I first saw or ran across the series initially, but the image of Saber pulled me in (Archer's design didn't hurt either, not to mention once I got to him vs Berserker ). Then the story finished reeling me in xD I personally like the idea of Shirou being in a support role versus the other routes where he goes full on fighter mode, so that also helped too.

Oh man, I forgot about these scenes! And people think Fate and Deen Shirou isn't epic. He so epic in this! (In his own way) by the way who's your favorite character? Mine are Shirou and Illya.

there is so much characters I love.

Taiga is my favorite feminine character, but i also love Rin.

For the masculine character, I love Shirou, but also Archer, Lancer and Assassin

the absence of Kenji kawaii is maybe the biggest problem of Ufotable Fate adaptations. kenji kawai is maybe the most famous anime composer

I agree 100% with this. Not saying that Hirasawa (think that's his name)is bad in any way, but Kawai so far fits the stores the most to me, more so than Kajiura (who I associate more with Kara no Kyoukai, that ost is her best imo). Also, Kawai made the soundtrack even more epic for the movie, I actually rewatched parts of the movie because of the music.

Fukusawa is not very experimented, his only notable work is Chaos legion for PS2 and he is specialised in electronic sound (not fitting for mythologic heroes into grail wars)

And Kajiura is an hit and miss composer. Hack, Noir, Xenosaga 2 and Kara no Kyoukai OST are top but Madoka, Mai Hime/Otome, Tsubasa reservoir chronicles and Fate Zero are pretty generic, they all seems the same.

Kenji kawai is a very talented composer with many variety in his style.

Patlabor, Ranma, Maison ikkoku, Ghost in the Shell movies, Higurashi and Fate stay night OST are really different

edited as I wrong for the name composer

His name is Hideyuki Fukasawa btw.
Damn! Didn't know Chaos Legion is one of his work. I friggin love that game's title music.

He seems to be good at these gothic chanting. Man...can't wait to see how he arranges the Emiya theme.

So after rewatching the first 2 discs (so far cause plan to fully rewatch the series) of this anime I can say: The naysayers of this anime yet praisers of the current one are full of sh*t. Events play out near identical in this series though not as flashily. Even the one where Rin investigates the 'gas leaks' is shown in this anime as well (I just didn't remember it). Also Rin is far more composed in this version, Saber is more headstrong (though Saber is always Saber xD), and Taiga is hilarious (especially seeing her lose both to Saber (kendo skills) and to Rin (debate/diplomacy). I also love how they broke up the tense/suspenseful atmosphere with bits of comedy (like Rin chasing Shirou and both of them jumping down stairs then getting a wave of pain surge up from their feet or Shirou mentioning Rin's skirt going up.)

The one thing I was worried about (dated art style) isn't even as bad as I thought it would be, its actually fine just again not as flashy. The music is definitely one thing I love about this version of FSN though I haven't even gotten into the best parts yet I imagine, just the music during Saber's arrival and Berserker's first appearance alone is awesome but then you also have the lead-in recap music for each episode as well.

The official sub person does need to be hit with a stick at certain parts though, not even talking about the meme generating phrase but other smaller bits.

So, yeah after rewatching my original liking of this series is right in place, definitely going to be finishing rewatching. xD I'd say this is like Metal Gear Solid and the current series is Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, the latter is flashier but both give the general story idea.

Hey what a coincidence! I actually did what you did and started rewatching the series again as well (alongside the new one no less). And you are 100% percent right. I'm actually liking it a lot more than I remembered lol. And that part with Shirou and Rin at the school was awesome. Now after comparing the first couple episodes of each series I can't even try to think on the haters' side anymore.

I didn't watch them side by side but I wanted to refresh my memory of the original series (mostly because I kept getting vague feeling of deja vu.) In a way I actually like the toned down nature of it (I mean I still do like the flashy tone of the current series too). I made that point about the school exactly because I saw someone use it as an example of a negative for this version in comparison to the current one.

I blame the poisonous bias thats been generated around this version mostly, along with just the VN-bias in general. For so long this version was said to be 'bad' so to them its become the truth, yet they don't even realize some of the same things being shown in this new version which they jump on as being 'great' or 'improved' were in that so called 'bad' version and spoken of negatively. I won't insult the new series in order to try to boost this one, I just wish that was a two-way street.

Dare to disagree with certain ones and you get called a troll even if you have valid points, cause that's a great mentality to have /sarcasm
