Have you ever had the opportunity to date a fellow otaku?

I wouldn't consider her an otaku but I was with a girl who liked anime and such. She wasn't really into it a lot though. Mostly just Ghibli movies, Sailor Moon and Hello Kitty.

Not really an otaku (that goes for both of us), she was more of an enthusiast, met in Astronomy lab, never went further than that unfortunately. Would I date one? I can't provide a satisfying answer to that question.

These kids just like to think that it is somehow special just like first kisses and such. Most will learn eventually through experience...others are kind of questionable to be honest.

Despite my cosplay and love of anime and such, I don't really consider myself to be an otaku..if I am, then yeah, the people I've dated were also otakus, and having that link was great. "What do you want to watch?" "How about [some anime]?" "Never heard of it, so sounds good to me!" was a common refrain, or picking shows we both enjoyed to watch or mock made for good times as well.

Esoteric discussions about character motivations, making up stories within anime universes, etc, all makes sense to folks like us, so it's definitely a great way to build a relationship, just like any other shared interest (rock climbing, old movies, Star Trek, drinking, etc).

I'm currently dating someone who also likes anime which is really cool but he doesn't like it as much as me.
Nor I consider myself otaku.

It's not as great as some people seem to think.

I made my man into a otaku, which is good and bad. Good in the sense where we can try watching new shows and have anime discussions. Bad in the sense of, sometimes I have to wait for him to get off work before I can start watching our favorite anime or wait for him to wind down from work and I just want to watch the damn thing already.

No, neither I think it will ever happen. ^^

i'm so unlucky when it comes to love... i think worrying about whether the other person is an otaku is near the bottom of my checklist.

Yeah I'd be great if I had a girlfriend who would want to watch it. I think finding someone who doesn't care that you watch it is just as good. No matter what the person is into all relationships have the same base type. Finding love is easy, staying in love is the hard part...
