Revan had been walking with his companion for quite some time, or at least it felt like that. The sun was high in the sky now, and the tree canopy provided ample amounts of shade. Revan and Ben went on without Keela, who left them to search for something. Food, perhaps. He could only hope. After leaving the hospital, they walked west towards an area of forest and mountains. He hoped they'd find a stream of some sort. The hospital water wasn't the cleanest. Tensions was still in the air, and the two haven't spoken to each other since they left the hospital. Revan wondered if he should break the silence as he gripped the blade of his katana.

"Yeah, totally." Ash replied to Dakota's with sarcasm, the grin still on her face. When she heard the questions, her face contorted. It seemed she was thinking really hard and was silent for what felt like forever. There was not one question she could answer. There wasn't one person she met that had any memories. She was sure the way they lost it was different but she wasn't sure why everyone in this place had no memory. Maybe something was being planned for these people but there was no way to tell. With lack of answers, Ash only looked forward. "I don't know. All the people I met lost their memories...too."

Benjamin kept his eye on Revan the entire time they had been alone, he wasn't sure if he should completely trust this man yet, especially after what he had done to the girl he loved. He clenched his jaw as he though of Keela, and her just leaving them like she did. It was especially hard on him, as he thought about what could happen to her without him being there, he knew she could take care of herself, but it didn't mean he didn't worry or care. He grunted as he surveyed the large mountains that rose above the forests, and for some reason they comforted him. Maybe because it felt like he'd arrived home at last. He cast a sideways glance at Revan, who's hand white knuckle gripped his sword, he looked to be in deep thought. Finally, Ben decided to break the silence.

"We need to get higher into the mountains, find a stream and maybe some fish." He stated.

He rested his hand on the hilt of his black katana and started up the mountain.

Revan nodded in agreement. "The mountains here seem to be far enough away from the city that the water should be unaffected by pollution. Not that there is anyone to pollute, but better safe than sorry." The woods were getting thicker, the smell of the coniferous trees filled his nostrils. The mountains were quite a beautiful area. The snow capped peaks overshadowing the distant fields of pine trees. For a fleeting moment, he thought he was at peace.

(Sorry for the late replies. I had to help my sister move.)

Benjamin grunted at Revan's comment, nodding in agreement. He hoped he didn't run into anyone who would try to attack them, since he was still pretty sore from the last fight. The two continued to walk for what seemed like a while until Ben's ears perked up at the sound of what appeared to be a peaceful waterfall.

"You hear that?" He asked, looking back at Revan.

(Life happens, bud. Happy birthday too.)

Revan was silently recalling the events of the past few days, trying to piece everything together. He was brought back to reality by Ben's question. He listened. He could hear the sound of rushing water nearby. A river? A waterfall? Either way, he thought that they had found the source of fresh water they had been looking for. "Yeah, I hear it. I think we found our water source."

(Thanks, friend!)

Benjamin nodded and proceeded towards the sound and found a peaceful waterfall, with a some what large pond. A large boulder sat in the middle of the pond and stone that gradually got smaller branched out on each side until they reached the shore. On top of the boulder sat a robed man, sitting in a crossed legged position, a monk spade laid across his lap and he appeared to be either sleeping or meditating. Benjamin held an arm out to stop Revan and pointed at the man on the boulder.

"Look, up on the stone." He whispered.

Ryu smiled inwardly to himself, for two shinobi, they weren't very quiet. He decided not to reveal that he wasn't asleep until they either introduced themselves or attacked. Ryu hoped they would introduced themselves, as he didn't enjoy violence like others would, he would much rather be at peace and meditate or drink tea.

❧Dakota Valentine
Thoughts;
...

"That's... unsettling," Dakota held his chin in thought and continued to walk. He suddenly became very irritated, for some unexplainable reason. Perhaps it had to do with the conversation's subject, but his body was acting out: shaky hands, tightly clenched jaw, and beads of sweat forming on his forehead. Dakota found it very hard not to lash out at Ash, even though he knew she had done nothing wrong, but the feeling of annoyance was there. He was relieved when he finally heard the rushing of water.

Revan's eyes followed Ben's finger. How could I be so careless? He was too devoted to looking for some water, and as a result, he was not able to sense the man's presence before. Instinctively, he looked for a place to hide, to conceal himself. The man however, was not giving off any form of murderous or hostile intent. From where Revan was, he could see that the man's breathing was relaxed. Though the rock looked uncomfortable, he seemed at peace. "What should we do? My people skills are a bit 'rusty', for lack of a better word."

"He doesn't look hostile, and I don't sense anything bad." Benjamin said.

He stepped forward and cleared his throat.

"Excuse me, my companion and I are looking for water, food and a place to shelter. Could you help us." Ben asked.

The monk lifted his head, and looked between the two and smiled kindly. Ryu was glad they didn't choose to attack them, he knew that with his skills, two against one was still an unfair advantage, and he preferred to remain calm and peaceful.

"This pond is full of delicious fish, and fresh water. It is not mine to keep for myself, it is Nature's and is for all. You are welcome to fish and drink to your hearts content, friends." Ryu said.

Revan looked at the man with caution. Slowly, he approached the pond. The water was crystal clear. He could see fish fleeing when they noticed his presence. He made a cup with his hands, and filled it with the ice cold mountain water. It was the cleanest tasting water that had ever graced his lips, or at least that's what he thought. He repeated the action several times until his dehydration headache subsided. He might be friendly now, but he could attack us at any moment. He kept wary of the man. Revan had no reason to trust this stranger.

Ryu looked down at Revan, and smiles.

"You are still very cautious, friend. I can see it in the way you carry yourself. This is good, it will keep you alive here. My people who were brought here are like the many rivers that run through these mountains. They can turn treacherous at a moments notice and harm you, but I am like this pond here, calm, cool, collected."

He pulls a stone from his robe and tosses it into the pond, causing a small plop, scaring the fish away and creating a ripple that continues until it reaches the shore.

"Until you disturb it, and cause a ripple, scaring the calmness away, leaving only an emptiness, and an emotion that is harmful." He says.

Benjamin watched from the shore and bent down and drank from the pond, it was refreshing, and he just wanted to jump in and lay at the bottom of the pool. Thoughts of Keela echoed through his mind and he sighed.

"Thank you for being so kind, monk. May I ask your name?" Ben asked.

The monk smiled, and nodded.

"You may call me Ryu, The Dragon Monk. Ryu if you're not one for titles." He replied.

Benjamin nodded and stood up, hand resting on the hilt of his katana.

"I am Benjamin, and this is my companion, Revan."

"I'm sorry." Ash said with a quiet voice when she noticed Dakota's irritated look so she stayed quiet. She didn't want to further irritate him. He didn't say anything and she was quite glad he didn't lash out at her no matter how he looked like he wanted to. The water perked her up and she immediately brightened with a grin. With almost a child-like grin, she ran toward the water and quickly checked around for any dangerous animals. "A few harmless buggies here and there but we can finally rest here." Ash stated with her hands back on her hips. She stared at the water and almost looked tempted to jump in it. Almost.

Revan looked at the monk. He wasn't the type for introductions. He just gave the man a slight nod and continued drinking. Considering his surroundings, he doubted there would be very many sentient beings in the immediate area. He wondered what Keela was up to. You still have my switchblade.
