Fly downwards, duh. I'd have the ability to fly, and like other posters.. I can just fly right back up.

O.K. I'll bite... I'll fly down and execute an amazingly perfect landing. Leaving me the option to take off and fly again.

Flying downward, less likelihood of becoming a smear on the ground... Although possibility of faceplant...

Is how the question is worded part of the trick or is that just because English isn't your native tongue?

Not being snarky I genuinely don't know if the wording is part of the riddle, or if it's even a riddle at all.

I'll say fall, from a height of my choosing. 3cm! ... 'flying downwards', at least for me, insinuates a bigger distance than to fall. Entirely subjective understanding of the words you chose though...

Completely mind****ed myself.

The trick from how I interpret it is if you answer with "fall" or fly downward which are both about the same thing, you "fell" for it. The choices and possibly awkward grammar are red herrings.

Flying implies you have some control, falling you're just SOL

"Aha! I tricked you into answering a question by asking a question!"
That doesn't seem right.

Maybe the trick is that there's no trick but because the title is "Trick Question" you're supposed to think there's a trick. Except that'd be a trick so there would be a trick and the trick wouldn't work. Then if a failed attempt at a trick doesn't count as a trick there wouldn't be a trick and it would work again. Except it wouldn't... And so on.

I suspect whatever the "trick" is (if there is one) will be disappointing. I'll probably be disappointed if it's anything less than "the original poster is a super being who will make your answer come true" (if that does turn out to be the case, I'd like my answer to be "I will be granted 10 wishes" then I can go visit that other thread and sort out the details).

Off-topic but thanks to your signature (even if it's not exactly the same) I now have the Ducktales theme stuck in my head. Again.

Fall. The height from which we're falling isn't specified, and since I've survived plenty of falls I'd be able to go continue going about my day..

I fail to see how this is a trick question.
To answer your question though, I'd rather fly downwards, since I can just fly back up before i reach the ground. Never said anything about how I'm flying though so the question itself is flawed.

That look so scary. It's wingsuit right? Man those guys are so awesome.

Fall because why would I decide fly downward?
