Square Enix issued a cease and desist letter to SkyBladeCloud and co. so their translation of the awesome Type-0 game for PSP is being pulled from their website. If anyone has not played this game, then it just got a lot harder to find a copy of the translation. It also seems this bit of news is blowing up the internet. Fans are taking sides, grabbing their requisite pitchforks and torches and are preparing for war. I personally find it interesting enough to talk about, but not interesting enough to deal with either FF Fanboys(of which I am one) or Squeenix fanboys(of which I am also one). Got anything to say about it?

I just find it funny that SE waited until after the man released the patch to send the cease and desist. Why pay someone to translate when you have a loyal fan who can do it for you for free. Then you promptly shit on him for his efforts. I know it's Square's IP, they can sue anyone who messes with it and do with the game what they like, but I think love letters to games should be embraced, not rejected in such a manner. Reminds me of Funimation.

They actually had the game fully translated already, they just decided not to release it on a dying system. When I say fully translated, I mean english voiceover and everything. I'm not trying to defend S-E of course, just making sure all the facts are out there.

It's all about profit. They wouldn't be able to sell the hd version if people had already played the translated version of the psp version. Also, psp & vita market is not as great as if it is released on consoles... A lot of great games on psp never came to the west because the sales for the portables are low.., well anyway that's just my opinion...
