Please don't link 3rd party apk sharing sites. Those are a major security risk.

I edited your post.

I have a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9"(2013 model) and after some OS updates a few months back the old version of the CR app from the Amazon App Store(back when it was still listed as compatible with my device, which it no longer is) started having issues where if I paused it or interacted with the player in any way the playback bar would keep flashing overlaying the video until I backed out of the video entirely and resumed. I learned to be careful not to touch the tablet after I started an episode unless I really had to.

I figured I would try sideloading a newer version(using my phone, which is regular Android), thinking it would cure this problem, but now the app doesn't work at all. It's a shame, since I used to watch about half my anime on the tablet. I don't know what version it was that partially worked to roll back to it, so I haven't been watching much lately.

Does CR have first party download links for their APKs of various versions so shady APK sharing sites wouldn't be necessary? The Google Play 'here's the latest version!' distribution model is failing many of us. I'm sure I could find a version that at least partially works for the Kindle Fire series the way it had before my ill-fated update attempt.

I was just about to ask about this. The app works great on my 2013 Kindle, but isn't listed for my Kindle Fire 8. Which annoys me, because I almost exclusively use CR on my Kindle and needed to use it on my new one because the old one can literally turn off at any time.
Guess I have to gamble until they do something about it. Which doesn't seem to be soon.

I'm feeling super bummed here. I keep purchasing things with the assumption that it'll be able to use the Crunchyroll app, and I fail each time. Latest is buying the Kindle 8, which dumbfounds me that it wouldn't support the Crunchyroll app when it works for the older models. Previous to this, I got a Samsung Smart TV because the app was listed on the Samsung site. I didn't realize so much research would be necessary to use a single app!

Please get the app upgraded or whatever so that it can be used on the latest Kindle devices. Please?

My Kindle Fire(HDX 8.9 2013) notified me there was 'an update' available for my sideloaded Android-current version(2.0.3?) to 0.9.7, obviously a much older version.. but that means that there's a signed one up on the Amazon store marked as 'compatible with my device' again.

After 'updating' to 0.9.7 from the Amazon store it works again, albeit with the same 'seek bar flashes repeatedly instead of hiding' bug I was having before. It'd be nice to have the improvements that the mainstream Android app has(+-10 second seek, non-bugged seek bar) but this is at least functional at some level.

Even if it's not really an update, Thanks for whoever went through Amazon's process to get 'device compatibility' re-added on the App Store. Hopefully this is a first step to getting us more updates and device support.

Can't believe there is no Crunchyroll app for my new kindle fire. *sadness!*

I messaged CR about this because I recently restored my device and saw the app wasn't available anymore through the store. I tried getting the device to sync through my icloud, so I could get it that way, but still didn't work. Anyway, CR said they were gunna work on getting it available, so we'll see! I guess?

Kindle Fire HD 6, new update two days ago.. now Crunchyroll roll app is broken!! Uninstall, reinstall, still broken. It constantly warns me that the app is not up to "the latest compatibility or security standards", which is ridiculous since it worked fine two days ago!!!

Crazy!!!
And no, "launch anyway" doesn't really do anything either.

Same problem, and I suspect everyone using Kindle OS 5.1.1 will have the same problem regardless to their device. Now that Amazon are extending 5.x updates to pretty much every Kindle device made in the last 2-3 years and introducing requirements for existing apps to update to adhere to new policies it means unless CR get their fingers out their rears and work on rolling out an updated version for Kindle devices, then using CR is no longer a option.

As the primary device I watch CR on was my Kindle rather than my computer or phone, it led to me cancelling my premium membership as there's little point having it until they roll out a compatible version, and with their history of leaving the app outdated and long broken for many devices, I doubt we'll see any resolution to the problem, they'll probably just up premium prices and/or start being more selective on regional licensing to cover any potential losses and even more focus on just securing Northern American Licensing for shows, whilst charging Europeans and other regions the same amount for membership but with a even smaller selection than already is the case.

I'm having the same issue, and it's a major problem. The only computer I have access to is a 5 year old laptop, so everything is slow on it, and it's a major pain, especially, to watch videos. So to solve that I was using my Kindle, but with the update I can no longer watch anime reliably through Crunchyroll. It's an extreme disappoint.
