Why would you ever think it's okay to skip a season of anything

There are a lot of flashbacks in GX to let you know what happened but I think it would be best to watch G first if possible. Perhaps try GX and if you're completely lost then go look for G... it was on youtube, not sure if it is anymore but at least that might be sort of safe for you compared to some of the sites in the darker parts of the net. Still not really legal but... I imported the Blurays from Japan which is the only legal way to watch it now.

I am disappointed that Crunchyroll hasn't been able to pick up G yet as a catalog title. Never licensed here, seems like a no brainer. I'm sure they're still working on it, not sure why the production committee would have a problem when it's makeup is essentially identical in G and GX.

I bounce around Fairy Tale all the time because I prefer the Erza focused episodes. And since the story moves soooo slowly and they constantly flashback / exposition keeping track of what's happening isn't all that difficult.

Plus there are several anime that give mini-recaps of a previous season to lower the entry barrier for new fans with the hope if they enjoy the new season that will encourage them to go back and watch the previous seasons. Particularly when there are several years separating the release of each season.

I shall give GX a go and if after a few episodes I'm feeling lost I'll re-double my efforts at G.

It is a good idea to try and watch G because it does explain a lot of the stuff that happens in GX. If you can't find a legal place to watch it, then just hunt around for a site that'll allow you to watch it but won't fill your computer with malware or some such.

The first Symphogear series has now been added as a catalog title:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-917185/new-catalog-title-symphogear-durarara-x2-dub-to-love-ru-ceres-celestial-legend-cardcaptor-sakura-the-movie

Despite the fact Funimation already had it, this is as improvement as it will now be available commercial free for CR subscribers, and available outside the US & Canada (on CR it is available worldwide outside of Asia).

Now we just need to cross our fingers and chant, "G...G....G" so they'll add the never legally streamed second series.
