Captain James Hook II

Hook downed the scotch presented to him, as he rose to stand from his seat.

"No need boys, sheath your weapons. I don’t know you hapless thugs do it in Wonderland nor do I care. In my territory, we like to keep things nice and polite in the tavern. No mess, no fuss. It’s for when those annoying Hoods come a looking, and if by some miracle find us that can’t finger a one of us. However, if you can’t play by the rules…we can always go for a long walk off a short pier if you catch my meaning…"

“You..you don’t scare us..” blasted the younger of the two brothers.

The older of the two said nothing as merely sweating bullets, the air of confidence around this guy was suffocating. The display of numbers quickly and readily loyal to him was doubly so.
Tweedle Dee looked around the tavern, seeing the weapons get reseethed but many remain standing.

“You’ve got a black heart, how does one the likes of you have any so loyal..”

"I run a tight ship here boy..they know anyone who threatens the way of life here in this cove is removed. Not by them, not by order, but by me. I clean up messes, so either learn to play nice at least within these taverns walls or fade into obscurity. Your choice..”

“I though,,thought this play was about freedom form the law..”

Both meatheads began to backup slowly to the door.

"Freedom is illusion and she still has her price..which reminds me its lottery time. Those that have been here you know the drill, for those who are new check under your seat for a number. If your number is called you can follow me , you get first dibs on jobs for the night.”

Hook reached over the bar, grabbing’s some slips of paper from a clouded bowl.

“13, 27, 42, 4”

Brandy went back to her duties seeing the confidence of the men had drastically dropped. They were no longer a threat and she didn't need to worry. Kael continued to watch in observation relieved he didn't have to move. The pub went back to it's usual activity of brawly men carrying on. Kael looked under his seat and pulled out a piece of paper that read, "Lucky number 27." He shrugged his shoulders and put it in his pocket. Finishing his glass of water he began his thinking again coming to a consensus he could go shirtless no longer. He put his hand on his chin determining how he would get the shirt, would he steal it? No he had to. He had no money but he didn't want to. Then the thoughts of Alice started to flood his head once more as the churning in his stomach intensified. He grabbed his head and shook it quite noticeably. Brandy was already making her way over to Kael and noticed him and laughed, "What's eating you hun?" Kael without really thinking about it, " I can't stop thinking about Alice." It had slipped out of his mouth without a second thought which shocked him. Brandy smiled and walked away saying, " Looks like you've been struck with a love arrow kid." Brandy didn't know who Kael was talking about but that didn't matter, it was obvious what was going on and Kael was completely oblivious to it.

Zachary reached under his seat for the slip of paper and grinned wickedly when he saw that his number had been picked. "Forty two, the answer to the ultimate question in life, the universe, and everything," he sang out, placing his cards on the table and picking up his weapon. "You louts really messed up big time," he said to the Tweedles and downed the rest of his drink before approaching the door.

Captain James Hook II

Hook watched one by one as the lucky winners lined up he waited as the Tweedles faded out of sight before stepping behind the bar. With a rapt of his cane a hidden doorway opened. Stairs descended into dark looming shadows. Hook descended to the bottom.

Watch your step..they’ll be no light till the last man is down here with us and the door is shut.”

Kael heard Brandy's comment about the love arrow and immediately rejected it. He thought to himself, "Love arrow? Does she really think I'm in love? What does she know, she doesn't even know anything about me. I've barely just met Alice. There is no way." Kael shrugged off the thought and was content thinking Brandy didn't know what she was talking about. He watched hook and shrugged once more. Brandy walked over to Kael laughing a little, "It's alright kid, it's no surprise a fine young man like yourself has his heart stolen by a gal. By the way what number did you get?" Kael let Brandy's words go out one ear and out the other until he heard her question. He pulled out the slip of paper and read his number to her. Brandy started speaking with urgency, " What are ya doing? Get your fanny down there, your number was picked." Kael had a confused look on his face and he slammed his fist down on the counter, "I'm not going anywhere until I get a shirt!" Brandy had already come from behind the bar pushing Kael towards the stairways from behind. Almost stumbling he made it down the stairways, right when he turned around to yell at Brandy for the pushing, he was hit in the face with a shirt and gloves to follow it. Brandy called down, "You'll need that because it gets cold down there. Put 'em on and good luck." Kael still irritated just grumbled as he removed his cloak, put on the shirt, and put back on his cloak. The shirt fit just right and the gloves were a bonus. Kael looked towards hook putting on his gloves now feeling warm, secure, and ready for anything.

(Kael finally got his shirt! For a visual, it's the same outfit on Kael's bio pic)

The huntsman-trained body guard gave a whistle of awe as he saw the hidden passage way being opened and walked down the stairs with the others. Zachary didn't know what to expect, honestly, it was the first time his number got picked in the lottery. The light from the bar was swallowed up by the darkness as he kept trudging downward, careful not to trip.

Kael looked back at the man as he came down the stairs. He got a glimpse of him in the light from the bar before he descended all the way. By the way he was dressed and equipped, he could be a hunter Kael was looking for. Kael spoke to the man even thought he could barely see him now, " Nice gear. You're a hunter, right?" Kael took a gamble just to see if his assumption was right.

Captain James Hook II

Hook watched as the rest of the men lucky enough to pull the numbers for the lottery entered the dark hidden passageway. The last man Hook felt his way for the side pannel in the dim light as the trap door closed securley behind them blocking out all light from the tavern.

"Mother may I have some light.”

Hearing the words spoken, one by one torches lit in a wave pattern down the hall. The archway continued downward and the opened up into six open tunnels. Hook lead the brigade deep into the cavern take third path from right as he did. He would wait for no man, if they were a fool enough not to keep up and get lost in twisted cavern it was their own dark fate to be meet.

Kael kept a close eye on hook as well as his surroundings. Hook was moving at a quick pace but he was still able to keep up. Kael senses were heightened since he was in unfamiliar territory. As Kael was following behind, suddenly a fleet of bats came from around the corner headed straight for Kael. Without hesitation, Kael took out his dagger and leaped into the air cutting bats as he executes a front flip clearing the path. The bats fell dead to the ground as Kael still had hook in his sight, keeping up with his hurried pace.

It was hard to tell whether the question was meant for Zachary, but when the light came on and he didn't see any other person that question was posed for, he figured it was for him. "More or less," Zachary chuckled and shrugged. "My father brought me up as one, but hunting animals isn't really my trade." He watched Kael take out the bats and clapped, impressed. "Nice skills. What do you do?"

Kael took out a cloth and cleaned his dagger before spinning it in his palm with the blade facing downward and placing it in its scabbard. The scabbard was hidden by his cloak. Kael kept his eyes on hook while speaking to the man, " I have no occupation right now since I'm not from around these parts. I came here to find out more about hunters and possibly register as one." Kael smirks, "I got to eat somehow."

Captain James Hook II

Finally they reached a the small hideaway. Despite it being deep in cove it illuminated in light as if it was bathed in natural light. In the room where four boards each a different color, one was white, one was green, one was purple and was black. The color marked the difficult of the jobs, the higher the risk the greater the pay. White was the easiest, mostly involving jobs that would attract the attentions of the hood falling into legality, while Black was things like assassination of high risk targets as well as theft from things along the line of the tower or origins.

"Take your pick gentlemen..and our one lady."

Kael stepped into the hideout and stood there for a minute day. The natural sunlight brought back memories of him laying on the lake bed looking up at the sky on a sunny day. He remembered thinking of Alice when he laid there which lead him to day dreaming. He could see her rambling about and energetically moving around. He even remembered the look on her face when she had tears in her eyes....for him. The churning in his stomach started again and it was getting worse. He shook his head noticeably, snapping out of it. He snapped back just in time to hear Hook's instructions. He walked over to the boards and thought for a second which to pick. He was having a hard time thinking logically since the thoughts of Alice were forcing its way back to Kael's conscious and he had no idea what the different colors meant. Those facts caused him to pick the green board due to the fact it reminded him of Alice's teal eyes. He lifted the board up mid way and pointed to it for Hook to see.

(It's fine. I'm glad that you remembered )

”Register?” Zachary rubbed his chin in thought. “I don’t know anything about that. You might have better luck with someone else from the cove, or go the Little Forest and talk to the hunters there. That’s where I’m from.”
When they reached the hideaway, Zach went over and stood by the white board. He didn't want to push his luck with the darker colored assignments, and looked to Hook, awaiting further instructions.

Kael still waiting for Hook looked over at the man, " No registry? Then how does one become a hunter mister.....mister.... what is your name?"
