When you get down to the core the main difference between the ECO and NAZI movements is that the NAZIs considered parts of the population a disease, and the ECOs consider the whole population a disease.
Hitlers main running platform was over-population.

From a practical side there is no population problem in the first world, without immigration there would be a natural reduction, even without state intervention.
The same is true for most countries once they reached the same level of development and children are no longer necessary as pension plan.
So our main focus in the near future should be to keep borders reasonably tight so the young workforce will enable the emerging countries to achieve development rather than camouflage the necessary in 1st world to change it's economy to be prepared for an aging population.

Climate Change is for the most part seen too negatively.
The reason we have no acute population problem at the moment is CO2!
It increases plant growth and therefor food production.

I don't consider that a problem in the third world. That has always been the case thus negating that the flaw is in the population per se imo

Do you mean that the lack of resources defines the third world?

i believe the panic is exclusive to the 1st and 2nd world countries. the fear has always been that third world countries will start to grow economically and afford to use more of the lack of resource.. have a bargaining power i guess. the deficit will first be felt by those who planned that they could be stealing from these countries centuries further into the future. this is my opinion.

I see where you are coming from, but the thing is we actually dump a lot of money into developing nations so we can be more effective trade partners. Lol probably just trying to butter them up so they don't hate us but still.

thanks and i doubt that will work, you are geographically fucked :). the countries closest to developing will have more ties with other closer to home developing (at a faster rate) countries.

At the beginning i was thinking this was an easy question, (yes was the first thing to come to mind) but then i came to the realization that manga/anime fans are in human population and people that make the anime that i enjoy so much are also included. This question is so good.

This population problem isn't exactly new. It's been around for over a hundred years and the predicted issues with population growth never occurred to this day. Why? Intelligence grows faster than the problems caused by overpopulation. I wouldn't bother culling the population since super AI that will solve all our problems are likely to arrive before the population even hits 10b.

Between 98% and 98.5%

After accounting for secondary and tertiary causes of death after society collapses.

There's no reason to. That's what epidemics and major national disasters are for. Sooner or later, we will have a plague, or something.

No.

If we can't find another way, we're not worthy of salvation in the first place. Our history is composed of humanity struggling against the cruelty of the world and itself to create wonders, to solve the problems plaguing it, [and] to do good. Overpopulation, though a problem of significant importance, is nothing compared to what we've had to triumph over. If humanity can truly not find another way, if there is no way out of it without resorting to staining our hands with the blood of billions, then let us wither and die. Better that than to begin an eternally recurring cycle of genocide and/or mass extermination.

The world is an evil, sadistic thing. If we let it succeed in pulling us down to its level then we, as a collective whole, have lost. What then would make us worthy of life's splendor? What then would justify our continued existence?

Better to suffer a death of one's body than a death of one's integrity.

Sometimes a little trimming is necessary for proper growth.

I should add that I'd be fine with killing a part of the population if they were willing to sacrifice themselves. I'm not fine with the idea of culling people against their will like animals though.
