Okay, someone help me out here. Is the Monogatari series too long for me to get into?

Some sources I have read stated there's like... 3 episode for one Gatari series, then like...5 episodes for another, then I know theres a couple of films out for one. I'm a bit lost..

Edit: Did some research and Monogatari series is just all over the place. It's reminding me of JoJo and the Fate series all over again. I got the gist of what to watch in order, but it will take me a while. I'll probably get into it when I have absolutely nothing else to watch. The series looks interesting though.

Nothing is too long to get into. It IS a long series but if you get into it, you will relish every episode. You'll know soon enough, probably in the first couple of minutes of the first episode of Bakemonogatari if it is for you. Start there, broadcast order is best even though it doesn't quite follow the novel release order which is itself not in chronological order.

Not sure I'd compare it to Jojo as it has for the most part the same protagonist throughout and the art style is more consistent. Fate again... not really. I'd say all three are fairly unique and all masterpieces in their own right but difficult to compare as they are all quite different.

This is the Kizumonogatari movie thread however. Kizumonogatari is the start to the whole thing but it was released as a prologue after Bakemonogatari. It has taken them years to finally animate it. At last, hell has frozen over and we get to see it in motion.

Canada better get this! We got Madoka so I'm hopeful but LoveLive is coming here months late... hopefully Aniplex does a better job than Bandai on this one.

I would take the comparison with a grain of salt; I just used it in the sense that people will tell you to start with this or that.

Thankfully, CR has all of them, so I have it stored in my queue to watch later! Looking forward to watching it.

Annoyingly, Crunchyroll has almost all of them. They only have the first 12 episodes of Bakemonogatari. The last 3 episodes were released late in Japan, not on TV and to my knowledge no legal streaming site ever got them. I bought the boxed set to see them though of course they can be found if one looks for them.

I also expect Crunchyroll will not get Kizumonogatari since it will not be broadcast on TV.

The last 3 episodes can be found on my part easily. As for the movie, by the time I catch up, it will probably be out to buy in a Blu Ray or DVD format.
