i would consider myself more of a casual fan. i don't like debates. i don't like getting hardcore into it. i don't like calling people's tastes in anime shit. it's all for fun to me and i watch what i want. i do have merch! posters, prints, wallets, etc. but it isn't something that takes up my entire personality. i have other hobbies, too.

Interesting that some people are cautious of calling themselves a "fan". I guess the fact it's technically short for "fanatic" maybe has an effect and people don't want to suggest that it's the only thing they like or that it's essential to their very existence (or whatever extreme).

My standards for being a fan are pretty low so I'd probably consider a lot of people who claim not to be fans as fans. If they don't want me calling them that though I'm not going to oppose them.

Anyway, I tend to watch some anime every day and can easily watch several hours when I get the chance. I do have other interests (mostly video games) but anime is pretty big for me just now (who knows what the future holds). I think I've only been into anime for around five years now and I have a lot to learn about it but I enjoy it a lot and I'm glad I "found" it. I like both older things and new things, I think I'm lucky to have somewhat wide tastes.

Most of my music collection is anime theme songs and soundtracks (also some CDs by people that did an anime related song), although that's maybe a side effect of being the main music I hear rather than a deliberate attempt to get anime related media. I suppose I'm more likely to enjoy a song if it reminds me of an anime I enjoyed though.

I'm also getting into Manga a bit but I don't put so much time into it. I do have a collection building up though so I really should try and read more, I have a bad habit of letting my enthusiasm run away (also, each volume isn't that expensive but it does add up).

How big of an anime fan am I? Hmmm... Well, I'm not on a level as an Anime Otaku where I put hundreds/thousands of notes into the industry. I usually buy what I really love in terms of DVDs/Blu-rays. I can never go for figures, hug pillows, ECT. My money would be better used on other things that have my focus. (Gaming & somewhat of my Kami oshi of AKB)

In short, I'm just an anime lover. I've been a lover for fourteen years now

Depends what you'd classify as a fan. I mean, I've probably seen over 400 shows, but a Chun Li T-Shirt is the only remotely anime-related merchandise I can recall owning.

1. I import DVDs, Blu-rays, and CDs from Japan.
2. I have a region free DVD player. So, I can watch Japanese DVDs.
3. When people complain about Aniplex and NIS Americas prices. I think to myself, what a bargain.
So, in conclusion. I'm a stupid and crazy fan.

Same here. I only watch anime if I don't have anything else to do. I do have anime posters, soundtracks, and even some DVDs, but I believe that a true anime fan is identified by how much he/she understands about the fundamentals of anime or certain series, not necessarily collection.

I always keep my hobbies at medium, for I believe that being beyond passionate about a specific hobby can be harmful to my personality by deterring me from enjoying other hobbies.

I dont know how to determine how big of a fan I exactly am , but I do love watching anime. I have watched a lot of anime. I don't own any merch yet , but I do plan on getting some. I own a few manga books. I am trying to get into manga recently. Watching Anime isn't my only hobby though. I am not really addicted. During school I don't watch a lot of anime , because that would interfere with my school work. During school I only really watch ongoing anime like HxH , OP , Or whatever I like is ongoing at that moment. Now in the summer break I just marathon anime.

I've been a fan of animne for 10-12 years . i lost 3-4 teeth when i was 9 from bullies that no one ever knew about becuase if i told anyone anime would have been taken away from me . i originally got into anime becuase i was an insomniac when i was 5 and my mom slept like a rock . for me i don't think that anything can prove that you are an otaku exept for your love for anime . for 5-7 years i had no computer or interent and for 9-11 years out of all the years i've been watching anime i knew no one who liked anime so i had to discover almost every anime and manga i know by trying anything and everything along . due to that i have read 177 manga's and i have watched 141 anime's . i own a lot of anime dvd's due to having no computer for all those years . when i was in 6th grade i overused my library card on manga and was late to the point where i owe them over $100 so instead of paying the cad off i just bought more manga . i currently own a collection of over 700 vol.s of manga . i never knew about anime con's untill a year ago so i don't own a lot of figures or other anime stuff however i do own rare items that are worth a lot . i'm studying to become an animator or mangaka however in class i am not allowed to draw or animate anime so i use the profesional skills they teach to incorporate it on anime at home or behind their backs . i used to be the worst drawer in my entie class and had neurogical problems in both my hands that cause a lot of pain when i drew however i loved anime so much i had to become a mangaka so over the years i've improved and gotten over most of the nerve pain as long as i use certain drawing materials . i'm also a fan of japanese culture and my aunt gives me anything japanese that her japanese freind sends her from Kyoto . overall i'm a really hard core anime fan and manga otaku . anime is love anime is life ~ Cat

I own some anime on DVD that I like or that were in the S.A.V.E. sets that go for like $20. Lately though I just stream whatever is the most convenient, legal way. I have Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix subscriptions so I can get as much as I want there (minus a few series.) Any manga I own is from a couple years ago and I have little intention of buying much more in years to come (with perhaps some exceptions.) I know I'll be buying a couple more series on DVD, but not that many and it's pretty rare for me to like a series enough to want to own it. For now I basically want to buy: The Rose of Versailles, Death Note, Kill la Kill, and Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne.

And I'll wait on Kill la Kill, simply because on Rightstuf right now it's $40 for 4 episodes. That's $10 an episode, which in my language translates into "no thank you."

I've always known about anime ever since I was young because of my parents, but I never really got into it since 2-3ish years ago.

I'm not the person who marathons a whole series in one night, but I really do love watching at least 1 a day. It's like a medication for me - "one anime a day keeps the insanity away"

I don't read manga too much, but I enjoy reading the light novels (like the Spice and Wolf novels)

And I need some anime posters for my college dorm
