I collect only anime t-shirts, hoodies, and bags. I don't read manga as much as some fans but I will read some. I would love to cosplay and go to more anime conventions in the near future. I enjoy watching anime.

I spend a lot of my time watching anime, but I'm not obsessed with it, at least I don't think. I still do a lot of other things other than watch anime, so I guess I kind of count as a "casual anime watcher".

I was huge on 80's and 90's anime. It started declining for me in about 2005 and I've pretty much stopped taking on new projects now unless they really appeal to me. I've never been interested in the cutesy/fanservice side of anime, it's always been about strong storytelling, good action and character progression and I can really appreciate good quality animation and choreography.

I can also appreciate that 90% (random number with zero research) of anime is aimed at children and teens, but even as a teen I still preferred watching the movies like Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Guyver, etc. and was always "WOAAAAAAAH AWESOME!" whenever heads exploded in Fist of the North Star.

I still have my guilty pleasures like Dragonball, Naruto, One Piece, Toriko, Bleach, Fairy Tail etc. because I love seeing characters get stronger and learn new abilities, it really appeals to my love for RPG's and the leveling system, but series like Bleach and Fairy Tail often at times make me cringe and feel ashamed to watch them. I'm not interested in animated bikini contests or their openness of sexualising children, I think that shit should be illegal.

So I'm basically at the stage where 9 out of the 10 new series that come out every season get an instant NOPE from me, and the 10th one I click out of curiosity to quickly learn it's exactly what I hate about anime these days and stop watching.

This picture sums up my feelings of anime, and anime fans in general in todays era.

In some aspects I'm a big fan, and in others not so much. In high school and college, I used to try to make my final projects anime related so I wouldn't get bored while doing them. I've watched a lot of anime (some mainstream, some not), and recently I've been watching more simulcasts, but I don't read too much manga, and I'm mostly interested in only action anime/manga. I have some VHS/DVDs, a few small posters, five cosplay costumes I bought online, and right now I'm making a cosplay costume. Most of the youTube videos saved in my favorites are AMVs. 97% of the things I do in my spare time are anime-related. So yeah, sometimes it seems like me without anime is like Shinpachi without glasses.

That being said, I only attend 2-3 small cons a year, I don't know the name of every author of every manga I read, I don't know what year each anime came out, I can't recognize VAs, I can't identify all the OPs/EDs (well, probably because I skip most of them, but even the ones I don't skip), and I didn't understand some of the references in NGNL, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and others. I don't collect figurines, I don't buy t-shirts/hoodies/pillows/notebooks or anything like that (although I do have a Spice and Wolf messenger bag). I don't know Japanese, and I don't know much about Japanese culture although I do have an interest in those things. So I guess overall I love it a lot, and I'm definitely obsessed but I'm not what I'd call a "hardcore" anime fan.

I love anime, but I'm no fanatic. I have DVDs of some all time faves, & I usually watch something every day, but I dont get into much other merchandise as the enjoyment of it is too transient to be worth the financial outlay. I will say though that I admire the passion that some people have for anime, & I can understand something of where it comes from, so I would never bag anyone out for being too over the top! Anime is like reading for me; I can easily be happy by myself with it for hours, it gives me other perspectives & keeps me company when I'm lonely or disheartened, & its something that I can share with others (although fans are few & far between in my circles) or keep for myself.
I'm a fan, not a fanatic, but I would hate to have to go without it!!

Obviously i'm a big fan of anime. I have watched all of the first season of Fairy Tail in like a week, and last year I have watched 500 Naruto and Naruto Shippuden in less then a month something like 28 days and this year i have watched 130 episode of HxH in like 6 days.

I absolutely love anime but I am not constantly watching it and I usually take breaks in between each anime I watch
Also not a huge fan of those anime that keep going on FOREVER (I'm looking at you One Piece)

I'd love to collect more stuff relating to anime.
But I barely make enough money to buy a new outfit.

I'll admit I'm more of a casual anime fan because I know I'm not even close to being as much of a fan as a lot of the people on this site. When I took a break from watching anime a couple years ago I realized that I'll probably never be a super hardcore anime fanatic and I'm ok with that.

Anime is seriously a life saver for me at times. If I'm having a bad day I just look forward to heading home and continuing a series. I feel that I am an unusual case in the fact that I got REALLY into anime my freshman year of college rather than when I was younger. I always enjoyed it throughout my teen years, but I am crazy into it now. I also watch a huge variety of shows rather than only what is new or being released weekly.

Hmm, I'm not sure I consider myself a casual anime fan, but I'm not a huge fan either. I go through phases where I watch a series or two, or three and then I don't watch it for a while. At least until recently I've gotten more back into it. I'm very picky with the anime series I choose to watch. They have to grab my interest pretty quickly or be of a particular genre, or have something a little unique to the story that I like. But over the years I've collected some DVDs and box sets. But more and more I watch anime on just netflix, hulu, and crunchyroll. For a while I read a lot of Shojo manga that I was collecting, and some I'd still like to collect, it's just expensive. I already have an extensive DVD collection of things that aren't just anime, mainly movies and other TV shows. I don't really have a lot of room to collect things anymore, same goes for books.
