I purchased a pair of beats solos by Dr. Dre a couple years ago and i have to say i was pretty disappointed by them. I probably used them like 6 times before i tossed them in a corner and never touched them again. I just sold my old beats and now I'm thinking of buying a new pair of headphones and was wondering what type of headphones you guys use to listen to music and for daily use in general.

I usually use a pair of $5 Logitech Ultimate Ears 100 Noise-Isolating Earphones when I'm outside exercising or just moving around and i highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap, but surprisingly high quality pair of earbuds. I have lost a couple/broke a few of these and always buy another no matter what.

These are the headphones that really have my attention right now:

The Sony MDRX10's (black)

Edit (8/6/2014)
I ended up getting pair of black Audio Technica ATH-M50X's and i'm lovin them so far!

That's probably because spending hundreds on Beats is the stupidest idea. They cost $18 to manufacture, and are sold at an expensive retail price probably due to the branding behind the product. It's shit.

I mainly buy cheap lil Sony earphones, or I use the Nokia earphones that came with my phone are decent. I don't really have spare money to purchase proper headphones. My mum recently bought $50 Phillips headphones which I'm trying out right now - very nice quality product, and it sounds quite nice. The only problem I have with them is that people can hear if they're sitting next to you, of which my earphones don't do.

I got a pair of Bose, but I don't know the specific type. They're the noise-cancelling type and they pump out great sound. Bose gets good reviews, but they're kinda pricey, so look around for some cheap ones.

Bose here too, though not those lovely and glorious noise cancellers...

Have had a pair of their in-ears and some on-ears. Both incredibly good, and the thing with bose is you get a 2 year warranty. My brother's were starting to sound a bit tinny, since he was running the cable over by accident, tangling them and dropping them, and they gave him a totally fresh pair for free - the shop attendant did it as they 'sounded a bit tinny' xD

But yeah, Sony and Sennheiser tend to be good from what I've heard as well. Just stay away from expensive 'designer' headphones like Beats imo

Yeah i've been telling that to people whenever they tell me that they are thinking of buying a pair. I mainly use earbuds when I'm outside, but i like using headphones when i don't have to move around that much.

I'm not a huge audio nut, but I can tell the difference between tinny and a decent quality.
I had a pair of Sony MDRZX100 for a couple of years, and they finally broke the other day (lost sound connection to one of the ears), but considering how cheap they are, and that I used them all the time constantly, a couple of years is pretty good in my books. The sound quality is very decent (especially for the price).

This time I decided to upgrade slightly and get the Sony MDRZX300 - a slight price increase, and a slight increase in the frequency range. Ultimately it's hard to tell the difference without having both pairs side by side, but I will trust that they are technically a little better ;)

Overall I'd say that since the cheap end Sony products are so quality, I'd definitely trust the high end ones to be worth the price too (always read the reviews of course!)

Sennheiser MX170 earbuds.
I prefer buds to the in-ear ones because I hate shoving things into my inner ear. Uncomfortable and gets all gammy.
Also pretty cheap. Like I literally walked into JB-HiFi and looked for the cheapest buds I could find.
Pretty decent sound quality, much better than the rubbish Huawei crap that came with my phone or some stupid Liquid Ears from Coles that broke in 2 seconds.

Not really a big fan of headphones, the head strap thingy hurts my head and I get headaches from them.

I have Senheiser HD-280, but most headphones start to hurt after awhile so I mostly use my Skullcandy Ink'd ear buds for just about everything, and they are like 1/5 the price.

Audio Technica ATH-M50. They're great, fairly cheap, and don't boost the shit out of the bass. When I first got them I'd get home from work and just lay in bed for a couple of hours listening to music cuz it sounded so good, haha!
