Can you consider yourself an anime fan even if you don't watch anime anymore?

If you have an interest in anime then yeah, you're a fan. I don't play games as much as I used to, but given the (what I'd assume is close to) 100,000 hours

You've spent more time gaming than sleeping ( ゚Д゚)

Eh, it was just an estimate. But since I've been playing games since the age of 1 year old on my dad's lap, and it was pretty much my only past-time up until the age of 14-15, I spent a looong time playing stuff.

Yeah I gotcha. I have 10k hours clocked on a single game, lmao. A lot of time spent afk, but still.

No matter what people say, it's always gonna be subjective. What defines a "true fan"... no one can answer that. If you consider yourself an fan, then you are one.

I would imagine so. Even if you aren't currently watching it, that doesn't change that fact that at one point you were watching and enjoying a multitude of series.

Eh, more or less. You did partake in anime-watching, so since you were in, no reason to come out.

If you have to ask if you're still an anime fan, then you're probably still a fan.

When you stop entirely watching it you can still be a fan even. I'm always a sports fan of my local state pro teams but do I watch them? nah

I mean, I guess? I don't know why you would ever just stop watching anime completely but if you did then I'm not really sure you could call yourself a fan anymore.

It would be like me playing baseball, quitting and then telling people I'm a baseball player.

I guess?

Can I consider myself a writer even if I don't write a lot? I do not know this.

I went through a burnout earlier this year OP. sometimes if you spend ALL your time doing one certain thing, it starts to lose its impact and "fun factor". That also happened to me with gaming, im still in a gaming burn out, so i have not been playing any games what so ever.

my anime burnout however, lasted a couple months... but what got me back into anime was continuing "Kill La Kill". At the time, that show was one of my favorites (pre burnout) and i was also watching a bunch of more stagnant (boring) shows that kind of led to me not wanting to watch any anime.

However, after watching a series that i really enjoyed, and focusing on just one show at a time for a while, i eventually built back my interest in anime, and now its stronger than ever

If you like anime, then you're an anime fan. If you don't, then you were an anime fan IMO.

i think the real question is "do you still want to be an anime fan?" if you consider yourself a fan, then you're a fan.

Yeah, I still consider myself a fan of anime, even though I don't watch anime anymore.
