I prefer MAL, but if Hummingbird has a big community, then that's great, too.

I've been using MAL and I'm still using it, and I'll still be using it. But after checking out hummingbird and anime-planet for a few weeks, I now think those two are superior to MAL, but I won't switch until their following becomes large.

How is Hummingbird similar to MAL?

Myanimelist.net, I never really liked hummingbird when I tried it.

Honestly I never really seen purpose of either.

Why do people feel need to keep a animelist ? Kind of comes off as a bit egotistical to me. Where you need to show off what anime you have watched.

Honestly I have fairly limited time to watch anime and a huge selection to get through, I dont really have spare time to document every single episode I watch for no real purpose besides to show off to others.

Sure I will hop on MAL forums to discuss anime theories. I especially loved when Aquarion EVOL came out and you had this crazy spiraling theories. But the core anime journal feature sort of just creeps me out.

I use anime planet. Though the site revamp last year has made it incredibly laggy and shitty to use, if I wasn't so lazy I'd probably switch over to MAL.

I used to use MAL but it became too glitchy for me so I switched to Hummingbird.

I prefer MAL over Hummingbird. Why? the IRC is more outdated in comparison, the mods are non-existant, the load times can be unbearable, the mods are dumb/lazy (they don't even add older anime in their sh**ty database, which are found in MAL countless times), lacks a lot of useful features and it develops quite slow. The developer seems to be interested in HB for nothing more than a recommendation algorithm that he could sell, but his recommendation algorithm looks like it's poorly made and I have yet to know what is so new about it, anyway.

A better choice than HB would be either AniList, JustDubs or TV.com.

I use Anime Planet. MAL is a nightmare for me. I try to make account for 3 or 2 hours and could't work. Hummingbird is the best looking of the bunch thou.

And Anime Planet has yet to develop a more simple forum like in Crunchyroll.

I don't care for the forums. I use it to keep track of what I watch and what I watching in case I forget.

I use AniList, which has added some nice new features recently while still having a simple UI. I tried MAL for awhile but it has way too many ads and started serving me Captcha's every time I wanted to login.

I really just use to keep track of all my anime and manga, don't care for the forums. Helps me if I forget where I am, especially for manga where I don't always have a bookmark, and also just to reference all the anime I've seen.

I got so into it that now I'm using MyDramaList for Asian Dramas, iCheckMovies for movies, SideReel for American/British TV, Goodreads for books/American comics and HowLongToBeat for video games and VNs.
