So whats this post about? Well its my opinion On Key Visual and PA Works on what shows are their top 3 and in what order. I chose the order this way on an objective point and the impact the show had on me. What would an objective point be? Specifically looking at the characters and how they relate with one another and what they try to accomplish in the series and the impact they have on the overall narrative. The depth of the characters, their backstory, how likeable the characters are, how fake or real they feel. The setting and how the story paces itself while minimally derailing onto other topics besides the story. Key Visual is kinda tricky since the animes are based off of canon routes they chose to put in the anime, PA Works not so much. So here is my list on what PA Works and Key Visuals top 3.

Key Visual:
1. Air
2. Kanon
3. Clannad

PA Works:
1. Hanasaku Iroha
2. Nagi no Asukara
3. Angel Beats

If I have too, I guess I could go in depth as to why I chose why I listed them in this order, but I will explain Angel Beats and Clannad since they seem to be the most popular.

Clannad is number 3 because I really didn't like the majority of the characters and their interactions with each other and the environment. The story at times would vear off and not accomplish anything worthwhile, and I feel cheated at the ending. I would have to say I like the Clannad movie the most as it stayed true to what the story was trying to accomplish. Clannad and Clannad After story could of been combined into a 24 episode series and would of told a better and more direct story. Also it was more overly dramatic than the other two.

Angel Beats... I love the characters, its the strongest point of this series. The setting was interesting with them being in the end of the world where those with regrets in life went. I really didn't like how the side characters were just faces and thats all. No backstory for them whatsoever. The certain comedy tidbits weren't needed and distracted and made the more darker more emotional parts of the series that much darker and more emotional because of the sheer contrast of the two. I also think the story could of been accomplished in just 6 episodes and the other 6 episodes were just filler.

How would you of placed them?

Wasn't the anime adaptations of Clannad, Air, and Kanon made by KyoAni?

I'm really happy to see that you put Air at #1, I just love that anime. I try and rewatch it every summer.
I might put Nagi no Asukara at #1 too, just for the sheer beauty of it...
For the most part, I am in agreement with you on this.

I don't really know how you can say the CLANNAD movie did what it wanted to do over the TV series considering the TV series is really accurate to the VN. I mean all stories by Key have a supernatural magical twist to them so i don't understand why people get upset over that. Although i understand it is a subjective matter.

Uh for me, the top 3 shows from Key that were animated would be Clannad: After Story, Angel Beats, and Little Busters: Refrain. I was never much of a Kanon fan tbh. Also, Rewrite adaptation when?

As for P.A. Works, my favorite shows from them are Nagi no Asukara, The Eccentric Family, and Another. I'm not really liking the way they are handling Glasslip this season so far though.

I haven't played the VN for Clannad yet but what would you rate them separately? (Clannad and After Story) They are technically separate series with the first season, and then the sequel.

Key Visuals
1, Clannad
2, Air
3, Kanon

Clannad simply because I got too attached to the anime and it probably had an impact.

PA Works
Nagi Asu
Angel Beats
Hanasaku Iroha

As much as I loved Hanasaku Iroha, I simply loved Angel Beats more. And I can't say much about Nagi Asu. Again, I got too attached to the anime. Good visuals steal my heart. A reason I love PA Works so much.

Clannad
Kanon
Air

Angel Beats
Another
Nagi No Asukara

I will admit, I got lost the 2nd half of Air, and then found out that I had seen the ending on youtube years before watching the anime proper. I also got spoiled on the major dramatic scenes of Clannad but still rank it higher because I watched it before Kanon and watched Kanon almost immediately after so noticed too many similar themes in the shows to get as immersed as I would have liked. I like Kanon's story better than Clannad but the two Another World OVAs will always have me love Clannad over Kanon as an overall series.

For PA Works, I simply listed them in the order of most memorable with Angel Beats winning out for having a better score than Another.
